a wedding brunch

Hi everyone!  I hope you all had a fun weekend!  This past weekend I was at a lovely wedding brunch for a fun couple, V+M.  You may remember them from a previous post where I did some engagement shots.  They had their wedding in Costa Rica then decided to have a special brunch for all those who could not make it to the Costa Rican shindig.  Gotta love a reason to have a midday cocktail.  I kept things simple with a tiered nude dress and a black cropped blazer.  It was cute seeing some of their photos from their actual wedding day and to hear some of the stories.  Was still feeling a little under the weather this day but it didn't stop me from having three glasses of wine.  =)  And of course the food was yummy!  Maggiano's never disappoints.  Congrats you two crazy love birds!

This month has been cray so far!  My last few days at my current job are blowing by fast and I'm getting sadder to leave my favorite manager of all time!  I also have a week and a half break in between and got so lucky that two of my favorite gals are going to be in town!  =D  Gracey and Ash!  Wooty woot!  So I will definitely have people to play with on my time off.  Also thinking about cramming in a weekend trip somewhere but tickets are so pricey right now.  Boooooooooo... who knows, maybe I'll just close my eyes, point to a destination, and go!  =)

Yes, I know, all that is different is the coat.  Hahaha!  Well this was taken on the same day we were in Soho right after I did some damage at Aritzia.  So obsessed with that store!  Especially because there was a huge mega sale section.  This jacket however was not on sale.  But it was pretty reasonable so I had to snag it.  I couldn't help but switch into this jacket right after my purchase so I could snap some shots and show you guys!  And it fit so well with what I was already wearing.  I did look pretty crazy swapping jackets in the middle of the sidewalk and ripping off the tags.  If I remember correctly, this jacket was just a little over $100 and is perfect for spring.  It was actually 55 degrees in Chicago today so I have a feeling I will be using this jacket again very soon.  Yay!  I hope everyone is having a great week!  This have been kinda cray at work and I've only been back for two days!  EEKS!

Hi everyone!  Oh-mah-gah!  Thank you thank you thank you for all the lovely comments on The Hubster's post.  Yes, he is the sweetest.  I was pretty surprised with the post.  He did a great job and he deserves a ton of credit.  I suppose he's a keeper.  LOL.  I was so touched from just everything my readers have done to support me.  He's right, I get all cheesy and geeky whenever I see any new activity from the blog.  I'm an accountant so I am constantly refreshing my numbers and looking for new followers and new comments like a total blog nerd.  Thank you for taking the time to publicly show support for me and showing me some love on my birthday.  And for those who sent me a personal message or email, thank you so much.  One in particular definitely made me tear up.  *wink at Becks*  I feel like you all have gotten to know me through this blog and I appreciate the little notes that let me get to know you and your story.

I honestly cannot express how elated I am right now.  I know it may seem excessive but I do drown out my birthday for as long as I can and for as long as my friends can tolerate it.  Hahaha... So thank you to my wonderful friends for putting up with it and celebrating with me.  The fun is definitely NOT over because guess where I am going today... Lake Tahoe!!!  I have been itching for some snowboarding funsies but it's been so unseasonably warm here in Chicago that we have barely had any snowfall.  I'm probably the only person around here begging for another blizzard like the one we had last year.  I thought I would definitely get some fresh snow out west but you know what... there's no new snowfall going on in Tahoe either!!  What the doodle is going on!?  Oh well... I am still very much looking forward to it and to milk my birthday celebrations even more out west.  Tahahahaha...  I probably should be packing right now but I wanted to take the time out to do one quick post and to thank everyone for this amazing birthday I am having.

Thank you to the friends who listened to me sing Whitney Houston songs off key, as a tribute to a great artist, at the karaoke bar.  "I Have Nothing" was an epic song.  Thank you to the girls who came out and treated me to an amazing dinner and partied like rockstars, even though one was preggo.  Es, you prove that moms can still hold it down.  Totes understand why you didn't take the patron shot though.  Bwahahaha!  I told you that you didn't look preggo at all.  Sue couldn't even tell!  Thank you to all the birthday dinners in the week that followed and all the amazing memories.  I have gone out to eat for the past 7 days and I don't think I remember how to cook anymore.  LOL.  Thank you to Papa DOS and Sissie DOS for being the bestest family ever!  Thank you to my hubby that kept saying "Happy Birthday!" to me every day for 7 days.  This all would not have meant as much if I didn't have you to share it with.  On the REALS!

So these shots were taken after my BE&D shoot right around the Murray Hill area which was where we were staying on our NYC trip.  We were about to head to Soho for some light "window" shopping... okay lie, I totally shopped for real.  I changed out of my bright yellow jeans because I wanted some neutral denim to try on with other tops.  When going shopping, I like to wear neutral clothes and shoes so that it will compliment whatever I decide to try on.  Which is probably a really bad idea because I end up loving everything I try on.  Papa DOS decided to take some shots of me walking across the street.  This was probably the slowest I've ever crossed the street and I was trying to look so cool doing it.  Does it show?  It was a bit chillier this day so I had to bust out my muffs.  I'm sure I've said this before but I cannot live through a winter without these!  I am also pretty surprised I have not lost them yet.  Shoot, I'm pretty sure I just jinxed myself.  I actually have more pictures from this day of me in different coats.  We took the opportunity of the sun being out to take shots while we were out and all I had were different coats that I bought while in Soho.  I'll definitely be sharing those next week.  Thanks again everyone and I hope you enjoy the photos.  Keep the comments coming so I have fun things to read when I get back!  Wish me luck in Tahoe!  I probably won't have any new posts until Tuesday or Wednesday.  But there's nothing wrong with going back to July 2011 and re-reading everything right?  Oy vey, I really need to get packing.  Love you all!

NEON PINK AND SPIKES

So this was day 2 of me in NYC.  It was so surreal to be surrounded by so much fashion and fabulousness even just strolling outside of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Faux Building.  =)  Yes that silver building behind me was put there just for Fashion Week.  There were so many incredibly fashionable people walking around, a whole slew of photographers and reporters, and tons of bloggers.  It was a bit intimidating to be quite honest with you.  It is extremely difficult to stand out in that kind of a crowd.  LOL.  But I tried with my pop of neon pink.  =D  I also am wearing this awesome spiked cuff from Doloris Petunia.  It makes me think of Street Fighter character Chun-Li.  KaPoW!  We were lucky enough to get in thanks to my gutsy cousin-in-law.  Hi Lisa!  She strolled up to the two security guards and shmoozed her way through, taking me and Papa DOS with her.  No we did not get into the tents to watch any shows but getting into the building was good enough for me.  Inside were tons of stations from the sponsors of the show such as Pepsi and Circa and of course Mercedes-Benz.  We got some free goodies, one being a hard plastic straw designed by Jonathan Adler which I am totally using to sip some water as I am writing this post.  Everytime I take a sip I think to myself... "oh you fancy huh? oh you fancy huh?"  Bwahahahaha... I'm such a nerd.  Thanks to Papa DOS being with me, I got to take some fun pics right outside.  Even if you can't get into the shows, outside and inside the building, is one big fashion show.  People are out in their best outfits ready to strike a pose.  Definitely going to try to come back next year... and umm... every year after that.  ;)

Hello my loves!  Sorry for the lack of outfit posts!  I have currently been stuck in an Anime and Korean Drama addiction.  It's a tough one to kick.  Also this past weekend was spent snowboarding up in Wisconsin with The Hubster and Trace Face.  =)  It was a blast because we got bunch of fresh snow the night before!  Hoorah!  But now it's all melting.  Drats!  I hope you like my new jeans!  I've been perusing for some pale colored denim and I think I have found some pretty decent ones at a great price!  ASOS carries some colored denim in petite sizing so it was perfect for me!  I linked it below so you could check them out.  At about $58, it's definitely worth a shot to give your denim collection a color boost.  Have fun!  I paired them with my awesome Fendi shoes that I got on sale a while back.  They are a little big and that definitely makes them a challenge to walk in, but my oh my, aren't they pretty?  Anyway, back to my K-drama!

Still enjoying somewhat of a warm front here in Chi-city.  It was 54 degrees on this day.  Yay!  Quick shots taken during lunch break with my intern.  Hahahahaha... I am the boss so he has to do whatever I say.  Including, taking photos for my blog with my iPhone.  LoL.  He did a pretty good job no?  Maybe next time I'll have him use the DSLR.  I am pretty monochromatic during colder months.  I really need some color in my wardrobe.  LOL.  I'll use any excuse to shop.  I'm awful.  Bwahahaha.  I really want to get a neon pink blazer or something.

BIRDS ARE SO FLY

Hi everyone!  I hope you all had a great weekend!  I know mine was jam packed and full of fun fun fun!  Friday night, I had me a good ol' fashion girls night out which started with an amazing dinner at Arami and that ended in quite an adventure around town with two of my girls having to sleep over.  I got to see one of my best guy friends that was here to visit from Dallas and party it up with some of the best guys I know.  I love them because when I get to the bar, they shout "DOS in the HOUSE!  Whut whut!  Drunk on shoes dot com!"  LOL!  On Saturday, I also ventured out into the suburbs to meet up with one of my lovely 2012 brides.

Before heading to the burbs, The Hubster and I took the opportunity of having warmer than usual weather in Chicago and a little bit of sunshine to take some shots.  We got lucky and found such a cute little street about 2 miles away from our condo.  This street felt like a tiny little neighborhood lined with such pretty townhouses and cute bricked streets.  Each house had a darling little fence and tiny steps that lead up to the front door.  It definitely made me want to think of moving into a Chicago townhouse.

So the outfit I am wearing is mostly out of my stash from my recent Aritzia sale extravaganza.  Even though I don't necessarily like actual real birds, I do like them as prints.  Hahaha.  I absolutely adore the sparrows (at least I think they are sparrows) printed on this blouse.  I'm not quite sure why but I was really attracted to it when I saw it hanging in the store.  The blouse is really soft and flowy and I like that it's a little longer in the back for an added uniqueness.  The skirt is also from Aritzia.  I really love this length.  It's perfect for a chilly day.  All you need are some tights and cute booties.  And boy oh boy do I have some cute booties!  Hehehe... =D
