oh how sweet it is!

Why lookie what I have here!  One big benefit of having a blog and following blogs is having blogging friends!  This is from my wonderful friend all the way in California!  Mrs. Oh Sweet Escape also known as Monica.  =D  She has an amazing blog where she makes me feel like a bad wife for not making as wonderful of meals as she does.  Hahaha!  Her blog shows you recipes of some of her favorite dishes, all made with love and all healthy and delicious!  I seriously peruse her blog on my lunch hour at work and I end up cursing at my lunch.  She doesn't just blog about food, she also blogs about decor, and well... pretty much anything she pleases.  (Kinda like how I blog.  LOL)  But mostly food and recipes.  Yummy recipes.  In this adorable tin were:  Lemon Ricotta Cookies, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies, and Ancho Chili Rosemary Roasted Nuts.  She has a better picture of the interior here.

Thank you so much for the amazing treats Mon!  She even put in a little note.  "Made with some serious love."  Hehehe... nice!  I was seriously sooooooo excited when I got the package!  I love getting packages!  (It's probably why I online shop so much.)  Anyway, I set some of the ancho chili rosemary roasted nuts out for my White Elephant Christmas Party and man they did NOT last long.  Good thing I snatched a handful before they were inhaled by everyone else.  Oh man those were yummers!  Also the lemon ricotta cookies... o...m...g.  I do not really enjoy sweets so the fact that these were lemon-ish definitely made them amazing.  They didn't last long and I tried to hide them from The Hubster.  He only got to have one.  He did, however, get his hands all over the chocolate chip cookies.  Drats!  Thanks again my love for the goodies!  I look forward to another one!  Is there such a thing as New Years tins?

aritzia day!

I hope everyone got to shop the Aritzia holiday sale! Aritzia is one of my favorite stores and every year around Christmas time, I spend a day with my fam bam and shop the sale with my sis. Dear ol' dad takes a seat on one of the four comfy, lush, and upholstered highback chairs and takes a snoozer. We cover him with our coats and put our purses between his legs and get to work.  =D   We call it "Aritzia Day!"  This year marked our 3rd year.  A big shout out to all my Aritzia ladies!  Thanks for always taking great care of me and my sis and keeping my dad comfy on his chair!  I got a few awesome items including one Mackage puffer that was on sale. Woot!  I have never really liked puffers just because I feel too... puffed up I guess.  LOL.  But this one was on sale and had an interesting design twist so I gave it a whirl.  I'm still thinking about one leather jacket I passed on.  Hmmmmm....

So run, don't walk to your nearest Aritzia store and do some damage. Hehehe...

DOS and Alexander McQueen

Just sharing what The Hubster got me for Christmas.  Hehehehe..

Like I always say, when in doubt, ask your woman's friends.  Bwahahahaha!  The Hubster did good this year and asked one of my girlfriends for some advice.  And now I have an awesome Alexander McQueen scarf.  I love the color!  The skulls are definitely more understated in the light gray.  Thanks HJ for helping him out.  Hahahahaha.  I was definitely surprised and laughed my butt off.  You are an awesome friend!  The DrunkOnShoes shirts, however, were all his idea.  It was definitely hilarious.  He got me two shirts, a hoodie, and a shirt for himself.  So when my dad and sister came over, we all put them on.  My dad had on the hoodie, me and my sis in our shirts, and The Hubster in his.  It was a pretty hilarious moment with us prancing around our house with our DOS gear.  My little DOS v-neck is now my favorite loungin' top.  Thanks babe!  This made for a pretty funny Christmas 2011.  You are the best PR rep ever!

We are a DrunkOnShoes family.  LOL!  The Hubster wore his all during our family holiday party.  Hilare!

I love them so much I wore then twice in one weekend!  Hehehehe... This day was full of running errands and window shopping with one of my faves, HJ.  But first it was off to the to the groomers for little Wrigley, hence the leash in all the pics.  =)  He needs to be primped and adorable for the upcoming Christmas parties.  It was awesome to finally get to take some photos out in the sun with The Hubster.  It's been a while since he's picked up the camera so it took him a while to get some non-blurry shots.  Hahaha.  I spent the first half of the day finishing up some Christmas shopping and stopped by Water Tower Place.  Aritzia will be having their Holiday sale soon and I went to do some pre-sale research so I am more efficient once the sale hits.  Hehehe...  I definitely have got my list going.  Then, I spent the rest of the day roaming on Michigan Ave with HJ.  T'was a blast!

My posts are going to become a little sparse in the next couple of weeks.  Only because it's going to be so busy!  Christmas is coming up!  And I actually have to cook this time.  I get away with not cooking for Thanksgiving so I make up for it during Christmas.  Hehehe...  The Hubster and I host a family gathering on Christmas Eve at our home.  It's also when we exchange gifts with everyone.  I love giving presents.  I actually try to put a lot of thought into the gifts I give.  My mother in law always says "You always get me something I didn't know I wanted but once I have it, I can't imagine NOT having it."  LOL!  I hope everyone gets to spend time with those they love on Christmas and that you all get fun presents!   And also The Hubster's birthday is right around the corner!  He is a New Year's Eve baby!  So that will be another fun celebration.  =D  I'm also going to try to go snowboarding once before the year is over.  So yes, it's going to be busy busy busy.  But it will be all worth it!

red coated denim - fa la la la la

Hey everyone!  I hope you enjoyed my last Sunda post.  Here was the outfit I wore that day.  We were so concentrated on the drinking and eating that I forgot to have someone shoot photos of my entire outfit for you guys.  Hehehe...  So here it is.  And really what I wanted to show you were my new red coated jeans from Rich & Skinny.  They are the Rich & Skinny Legacy Jeans.  This is my first pair from the brand and I must say, love love love!  I went with the red for the holidays and because I wanted a fun but versatile color.  And I must say, I LOVE the color!  I have to roll them up of course because of the length but I love that even though I have to roll them up, they still stay tight around my ankle.  These jeans are selling out like hotcakes!  I hope they restock soon because I really want to snatch the coated style in the black.  I paired them with one of my favorite YSL pumps.  I love them because they are grey.  I think everyone should have a simple grey pump.  It goes with so many outfits and is a great alternative to the basic black pump.  =)  By the way, Wrigley says "arf woof arf grrr arf bark bark" which roughly translated means:  "Happy Holidays and thanks for reading my mommy's blog!"  He just loves sneaking into my shots.

cookin' & mixin'

So a week or so ago I got an invite for an awesome event from my favorite peeps at Sunda!  Just one of the benefits of following them on Twitter is you get the latest on events and specials and any Sunda related news, so please follow them on Twitter right now!  (@sundachicago)  This particular event was a cooking/mixology class where Sunda chefs and mixologists take you step by step on how to create some of their signature dishes and drinks.  This day we had the amazing Chef de Cuisine Jess DeGuzman and Mixologist Nahm Kim showing us the ropes.  But as usual, I drank all my drinks too fast and could barely follow the instructions.  I do remember that they were all deeeeelish!  Our menu for the day was:  Pakuchi Sakitini and Rumour Has It for the drinks, and Vietnamese Tofu and Shrimp Spring Rolls and Edamame and Shiitake Dumplings for the munchies.  I now have a very deep appreciation for mixologists.  There are quite a few things that go into those dang good cocktails!  I'm pretty sure there was a sprig of rosemary in one of them.

Of course I had to take one of my best girls along with me!  Big thanks to Laurz for tagging along and always being a bucket of funsies!  We really tried to stick to the measurements for the drinks but eyeballing it and over-pouring just felt like the right thing to do.  We also had a pretty serious discussion on whether or not you are supposed to eat raw cranberries.  Laurz took a bite and decided, no, you can't eat raw cranberries.  Hahahaha!  We shared our table with two awesome girlies!  One who apparently has read the blog!  HI THERE!  You girlies were so fun!  And I'm sorry if the drinks we made you had too much of a kick.  We went heavy on the vodka on yours.  LOL!  

Here are our awesome dumplings.  Laurz' is the over stuffed one that's busting out from the seams.  Mine are the perfectly crimped ones.  WHUT WHUT!  These were so yummy!  As soon as they got back from being steamed, no one was talking and they were devoured in 2.8 seconds.  Good thing we made extra.  =D

Sunda did such an amazing job with the event and we were all super excited to get our gift bags.  Inside was a little bottle of vodka, a $25 gift card to Sunda, recipe cards of the dishes and drinks we made, and an awesome blue Sunda apron.  Yay!  I love goodies!  And of course it's always fun seeing my favorite Chef Jess do his thaaaang (and also share a shot of sake)!

Thanks again Sunda for the invite.  Can't wait for the next one!  Please follow them on Twitter and make it out for their next class.  It seems like they will be having more of these events in 2012.  Yay!

a little bit o' fringe

Happy Friday everyone!  One more week until Christmas!  Hooraaay!

So a couple of days ago I was G-chatting about boots with my girl MSL (we are kindred spirits when it comes to tall and I mean TALL shoes) and I asked her to help me track down some classic black platform booties.  She loves a good hunt as much as I do and I think she finds it funner to look for me because it's much more challenging finding my size.  LoL.  Yes, the hunt is sometimes just as much fun as the purchase itself.  So she sends me quite a few she was able to dig up that fit the bill.  Most were too pricey for me to pull the trigger just yet and some were not exactly my size.  It's really hard to find boots on sale for a 4.5-5 sized foot.  And I really was only looking for ones that were specifically on sale.  There are just way too many sales out there right now to be buying things full price!  So I'm flipping through some black booties online and we are G-chatting back and forth links to random ones that I found as well, and I am just iffy about most of them.  

Then she sends me a shoe that is neither classic, nor black, nor what I would consider booties.  She sends me a pair of B Brian Atwood dark brown fringe ankle boots (Style name Tempesta.  Saks has them in a light grey which is oh so fab but only left is size 8 or 11.  If that's you, jump on it!).  Definitely not what I was looking for, but the sale price was just too tempting and it was the final pair available and, let's be honest, it's just a damn good looking shoe.  Those always tend to get me.  Definitely a good find girlie!  Digital high five!  So I do the ol' "maybe when I see them in person I'll hate them" logic and make the purchase.  

Clearly the shoes themselves are super hot hot hot and loaded with style.  But my first concern was that they are just too big.  Not the size because surprisingly for a 5.5, it barely needed any stuffing.  I mean in general, it is a big and clunky shoe.  And for someone with a petite frame, I'm just not 100% sure I can rock them the way they should be rocked.  If that makes any sense.  I dunno, maybe my ankles are too small?  But after I photographed them, they don't seem to look that clunky on me.  Right?  I'm just not sure.  It could be that I'm just tired and grumpy today.  So what do you all think?  Keep em'?  or Return em'?  I almost always splurge on shoes during Christmas time as my gift from Santa.  Could this be the Christmas2011 pair?  Help me decide!  I've been so busy and my to do list is way too long that I can't think straight.  I'm also second guessing the super fun skirt I'm wearing.  Gah!
