FNO AND EPIC FAIL

Day one in New York!  Woot!  I felt so blessed to have been on this trip with two of my besties!  Laurz and Sungie.  Two of my absolute favorite people.  So fun to travel with, down for whatevers, and both just know how to love life and be in the moment.  I immediately took them to the first place I always go to when I go to NYC.  Cafe Habana in Soho.  I did that for two reasons.  One, Cafe Habana is amazeballs!  And two, because I wanted to trick them into shopping in Soho since it's like... right there.  Cafe Habana is seriously some good eats.  The corn is indescribable!  Rocks my socks every time it hits my lips.  I'm pretty sure Laurz and Sungie are now huge fans.  The best part is the price is so reasonable for the level of tastiness.  Ready for some #foodporn?  Here we goooooooo...

We forced down two orders because it was just too good to not finish.

Let the midday drinks begin!

Laurz and her pulled pork.

Sungie and his Cuban sandwich.

DOS and her favorite fish tacos ever!

Don't you just want to shove your face in there?

Shopping in the Piperlime store in Soho.  The store is totes adorbs.  On the hunt for faux leather shorts.

LOVED these ones from Free People.  But smallest size didn't fit my waist.  WAH!  =(

My darling Laurz in full haggle mode.

Later that night we were off to experience New York's Fashion's Night Out!  It was quite an adventure.  Very difficult to shop with so many people!  I went super casual for the night in a Brandy Melville top and Elizabeth and James shorts.  We started off around Midtown because I really wanted to check out the new Schutz store before heading down to Soho.

Oh hayyyyyyy.  If this doesn't get you in the store, I dunno what will!

Just a few delicious pieces from Schutz!  Pretty please make size 4.5 and 5!

After the craziness of FNO, we went to The Standard for some drinks.  Yummy yummy!  So fun catching up with everyone and hanging out with my Anita bonita.  It was also nice to be away from all the craziness and have a place to sit away from the crowds and away from the muggy heat.  We killed that sangria like champs.

After a rousing and might I add super successful boozing sesh at The Standard, we decided to continue the party rock at a place called The Park in Meat Packing.  Here's where the epic fail started.  Even though there are multiple bouncers standing outside, there is one main bouncer.  Dressed more suave-ly than the others with his light grey three piece suit and thick leather gloves (yea it was kind of 90 degrees outside) so it was purely for the sake of being fashionable.  I can appreciate that.  What I did NOT appreciate was feeling like I was two inches tall as he proceeded to skip over us and let other (in his unspoken opinion) cooler people inside.

Was I dressed too casual in shorts and a cut off tee I wondered?  But then he let in more casually dressed peeps and I was sure that wasn't it.  We stood there patiently because one, we are not rude, and two we do not think we are royalty and expect to just be let in right away.  Part of us wanted to leave, but the other part kept hearing the fun music playing inside.  Exactly the stuff I wanted to shake my caboose to.  So each time I would turn to leave, the music pulled me back in.  With each swing of the door I could feel my inner ghetto girl want to shimmy shake.  Especially when Missy Elliot's Get Your Freak On started playing.  (click)  I shit you not, once the beat dropped my heart started racing and my breathing got all heavy.  Let me in!  Let me in!  But there was no convincing this guy.

Standing outside feeling rejected, I just wanted to be like:

But my buzz was wearing off and did not feel like embarrassing myself in the Meat Packing District.  Had I used up all my cool points at The Standard?  Quite possibly.  In defeat, we trudged down the street, got in a cab, and went back to our friend's apartment, trying to shake off the stink of defeat.  It was still a super fun day regardless.  In hindsight, I'm glad we didn't get in or else I would have been pretty dead the next morning which was important because I was going to my very first NY Fashion show.  Stay tuned...

xoxo,

AFTER MY NYC TRIP, AT WORK I FEEL LIKE:

I am taking a page from my favorite tumblr #soyeahduh on this one.  I had absolutely the most fun in NYC this past weekend.  I was there from Wednesday night to Sunday night and it was a nonstop bucket of fun.  From eating at all my favorite spots, to running around the city during Fashion's Night Out, to going to my very first fashion show, to seeing a celeb or two, to party rocking with my friends at Meat Packing, to meeting some of my all time favorite bloggers, to buying artwork at a Brooklyn flea market, I have to say, New York never disappoints me.  But I do have my battle scars.  My feet are crying, and I've got a few bruises and a ton of blisters.  But all totes worth it.  Needless to say, I am exhausted!  Add the fact that I was back in the office bright and early on Monday morning trying to play catch up to some state returns.  I definitely just want to crawl under my desk and nap.  But like any other insane multi-tasker, I must power through!  I have a few photos to show you guys.  Not a lot because teaching my friends how to maneuver a DSLR was a bit of a fail.  And it was so hot and muggy out in NY with rain mixed in at random points.  Very hard to stay lookin' cute and sassy.  Not that I didn't try.  Hehehe...  But mostly I cared more about spending time with my friends and having fun.  I definitely have some photos to show you guys.  Just be patient as I try to get my head on straight and back to my grind.  Hopefully you follow me on Instagram (drunkonshoes) and that is holding you over for now.  Don't worry, I'll compile those pictures into a post as well.  =)

xoxo

Yes, I know, all that is different is the coat.  Hahaha!  Well this was taken on the same day we were in Soho right after I did some damage at Aritzia.  So obsessed with that store!  Especially because there was a huge mega sale section.  This jacket however was not on sale.  But it was pretty reasonable so I had to snag it.  I couldn't help but switch into this jacket right after my purchase so I could snap some shots and show you guys!  And it fit so well with what I was already wearing.  I did look pretty crazy swapping jackets in the middle of the sidewalk and ripping off the tags.  If I remember correctly, this jacket was just a little over $100 and is perfect for spring.  It was actually 55 degrees in Chicago today so I have a feeling I will be using this jacket again very soon.  Yay!  I hope everyone is having a great week!  This have been kinda cray at work and I've only been back for two days!  EEKS!

Hi everyone!  Oh-mah-gah!  Thank you thank you thank you for all the lovely comments on The Hubster's post.  Yes, he is the sweetest.  I was pretty surprised with the post.  He did a great job and he deserves a ton of credit.  I suppose he's a keeper.  LOL.  I was so touched from just everything my readers have done to support me.  He's right, I get all cheesy and geeky whenever I see any new activity from the blog.  I'm an accountant so I am constantly refreshing my numbers and looking for new followers and new comments like a total blog nerd.  Thank you for taking the time to publicly show support for me and showing me some love on my birthday.  And for those who sent me a personal message or email, thank you so much.  One in particular definitely made me tear up.  *wink at Becks*  I feel like you all have gotten to know me through this blog and I appreciate the little notes that let me get to know you and your story.

I honestly cannot express how elated I am right now.  I know it may seem excessive but I do drown out my birthday for as long as I can and for as long as my friends can tolerate it.  Hahaha... So thank you to my wonderful friends for putting up with it and celebrating with me.  The fun is definitely NOT over because guess where I am going today... Lake Tahoe!!!  I have been itching for some snowboarding funsies but it's been so unseasonably warm here in Chicago that we have barely had any snowfall.  I'm probably the only person around here begging for another blizzard like the one we had last year.  I thought I would definitely get some fresh snow out west but you know what... there's no new snowfall going on in Tahoe either!!  What the doodle is going on!?  Oh well... I am still very much looking forward to it and to milk my birthday celebrations even more out west.  Tahahahaha...  I probably should be packing right now but I wanted to take the time out to do one quick post and to thank everyone for this amazing birthday I am having.

Thank you to the friends who listened to me sing Whitney Houston songs off key, as a tribute to a great artist, at the karaoke bar.  "I Have Nothing" was an epic song.  Thank you to the girls who came out and treated me to an amazing dinner and partied like rockstars, even though one was preggo.  Es, you prove that moms can still hold it down.  Totes understand why you didn't take the patron shot though.  Bwahahaha!  I told you that you didn't look preggo at all.  Sue couldn't even tell!  Thank you to all the birthday dinners in the week that followed and all the amazing memories.  I have gone out to eat for the past 7 days and I don't think I remember how to cook anymore.  LOL.  Thank you to Papa DOS and Sissie DOS for being the bestest family ever!  Thank you to my hubby that kept saying "Happy Birthday!" to me every day for 7 days.  This all would not have meant as much if I didn't have you to share it with.  On the REALS!

So these shots were taken after my BE&D shoot right around the Murray Hill area which was where we were staying on our NYC trip.  We were about to head to Soho for some light "window" shopping... okay lie, I totally shopped for real.  I changed out of my bright yellow jeans because I wanted some neutral denim to try on with other tops.  When going shopping, I like to wear neutral clothes and shoes so that it will compliment whatever I decide to try on.  Which is probably a really bad idea because I end up loving everything I try on.  Papa DOS decided to take some shots of me walking across the street.  This was probably the slowest I've ever crossed the street and I was trying to look so cool doing it.  Does it show?  It was a bit chillier this day so I had to bust out my muffs.  I'm sure I've said this before but I cannot live through a winter without these!  I am also pretty surprised I have not lost them yet.  Shoot, I'm pretty sure I just jinxed myself.  I actually have more pictures from this day of me in different coats.  We took the opportunity of the sun being out to take shots while we were out and all I had were different coats that I bought while in Soho.  I'll definitely be sharing those next week.  Thanks again everyone and I hope you enjoy the photos.  Keep the comments coming so I have fun things to read when I get back!  Wish me luck in Tahoe!  I probably won't have any new posts until Tuesday or Wednesday.  But there's nothing wrong with going back to July 2011 and re-reading everything right?  Oy vey, I really need to get packing.  Love you all!
