COOKIN' RAW WITH THE BROOKLYN BOY

So I'm kind of going backwards with this post.  This was actually my LAST day in NYC.  Probably the best weather day for photos but the worst hangover day for the one in the photo.  By this point in my trip I was soooooo dead tired but I didn't want to stop the rock (inside joke).  One of the biggest reasons why I love visiting my bestie Anita is because she takes me to the best places.  I've already hit up all the touristy spots so she likes to take me to explore New York like a local.  I love that!  This particular day we ventured into Brooklyn where she took me shopping at a few flea markets.  On the way, I got stopped in my tracks by this awesome wall!  What an uh-maaazing backdrop!  Props to her for taking great pics.  I believe this was Williamsburg area.  The day was so beautiful and sunny, perfect for a flea market shopping day.

I loved the buildings and their very city style fire escapes.  Makes me think of the final scene of Pretty Woman, very romantic.  If a boy climbed my fire escape with flowers I would just swoon.  Swooooooon!

I made Anita get this hat.  So fabulous!  Vintage, great color, decently priced.  Gotta love finding an old treasure!

At the flea market, I got myself some awesome pieces for my place.  I always try to get something interesting from every trip I take.  Something I can look at that makes me remember all the awesome memories.  This was obvi too big to stuff in my luggage so these are being shipped to me by the artist.  I am getting one New York skyline and one Chicago skyline!  How perfect is that!?  The Chicago one is still being made.  The picture above is only the NYC skyline.  They are on reclaimed barnwood and I love the effect it has on the print itself.  The artist Philip Sachs also has an etsy shop set up for those who can't get to him in Brooklyn for his awesome stuff.  Check him out on www.sheepsheadnyc.com.  I asked him about possibly making me an LA one to complete my triad of cities that I visit the most.  Please try to support local art whenever you can!  It's a welcome change to my items from Pottery Barn and Crate and Barrel.

Haaayyyyy girllll.  Effortlessly sexy.  I wonder if she noticed I was snapping pictures of her and tried to pose a little.  Don't worry girlfriend, I totally feel ya.  Hehehehe...  Maybe I should be a street style blogger so I don't seem so creepy trying to sneak a photo.

We took the ferry back to Manhattan.  Wow what a view!  I highly suggest taking the ferry to and from Brooklyn.  It's only $4 and on a great day, it is a fabulous way to take in the New York skyline.  I'll be seeing you on a wooden plank in a little while New York.  Can't wait to share all of my crazy stories from my trip with you guys.  I had myself quite a fun adventure.

AFTER MY NYC TRIP, AT WORK I FEEL LIKE:

I am taking a page from my favorite tumblr #soyeahduh on this one.  I had absolutely the most fun in NYC this past weekend.  I was there from Wednesday night to Sunday night and it was a nonstop bucket of fun.  From eating at all my favorite spots, to running around the city during Fashion's Night Out, to going to my very first fashion show, to seeing a celeb or two, to party rocking with my friends at Meat Packing, to meeting some of my all time favorite bloggers, to buying artwork at a Brooklyn flea market, I have to say, New York never disappoints me.  But I do have my battle scars.  My feet are crying, and I've got a few bruises and a ton of blisters.  But all totes worth it.  Needless to say, I am exhausted!  Add the fact that I was back in the office bright and early on Monday morning trying to play catch up to some state returns.  I definitely just want to crawl under my desk and nap.  But like any other insane multi-tasker, I must power through!  I have a few photos to show you guys.  Not a lot because teaching my friends how to maneuver a DSLR was a bit of a fail.  And it was so hot and muggy out in NY with rain mixed in at random points.  Very hard to stay lookin' cute and sassy.  Not that I didn't try.  Hehehe...  But mostly I cared more about spending time with my friends and having fun.  I definitely have some photos to show you guys.  Just be patient as I try to get my head on straight and back to my grind.  Hopefully you follow me on Instagram (drunkonshoes) and that is holding you over for now.  Don't worry, I'll compile those pictures into a post as well.  =)

Happy Monday my loves!  I am reporting to you from back in Chicago... at the office... on my lunch break... on about two hours of sleep.  Wheeeeeeee!  I took a red eye flight and was at the airport at 4:30am, boarding at 5:45am, and landed in Chicago at 7:20am.  I took the train straight to the office so I am looking crazy at my desk with two big bags of luggage next to me.  But it is all worth it!  I had an absolute fun-tastic time in NYC over the weekend.  I feel like I did so much and also got a lot accomplished.  I met some oober awesome and fabulous people at the event I was invited to.  The event was held by CurrentlyObsessed.me and sponsored by ASOS.com, shopbop.com, and theoutnet.com.  =)  CurrentlyObsessed.me is a site where you can join and stalk your favorite bloggers and save products and your current obsessions from blog sites into your account.  Definitely check it out!  I felt so lucky to be in a room with such fun and amazing bloggers that all shared their experiences and advice.

But the most notable moment for me was meeting Wendy from Wendy's Lookbook!  Her YouTube videos are sick-tastic and so clever and inventive!  And yea.. she is just as pretty in person as she is in her photos.  But to top it all off, she is the biggest sweetie pie in the world!  (I even got to take a photobooth picture with her... seen below)  If you are reading this love, thanks so much for being so welcoming and sweet to me.  It was a pleasure meeting both you and MM that night.  I hope I maintained somewhat of a great composure (although I'm pretty sure you two saw me start to wobble) since I was both totally in awe and totally tipsy.  Yikes!  I used wine to get over my nerves very EARLY on in the night.  Hehe... I'll definitely go more into detail of my weekend in NYC and share with you guys all the fun photos I got to take thanks to my awesome photog... Papa DOS.  I love that my dad loves to tag along and take photos for me.  Woot!  But here are the snapshots of what I like to call... "NYC via Instagram" - come find me on instagram (drunkonshoes) if you really want to see all the random things I take photos of but don't necessarily post anywhere else.  LOL.

More to come from my NYC adventures so stay tuned!  Lots of photos to go through!  Ack!  Once again thanks to everyone for supporting me.  It's been a fun and crazy ride and I could not have done it without everyone's motivation and love.  A big thank you and loads of hugs and kisses to one of my best friends and her roomie for letting us crash at her place all weekend and also for always showing me how much fun and culture there is in New York.  NYC in short was... UH-MAZE-BALLZ!  Can't wait to share the rest with you all!  <3

Hi everyone!  So guess where I am headed this weekend?!  NYC baby!  It was such a last minute and spontaneous booking.  LoL.  When I received an email for an invite to an event that celebrates bloggers, it was really hard to say no.  Believe me, I tried to talk myself out of it since it would involve finding last minute tickets, taking a day off work, and flying back into Chi-town at 6am then heading straight back to the office.  But my excitement took over and I pulled the trigger on this NY trip.  Thank goodness one of my bestest friends happens to be a New Yorker now and I can play my friend card and stay at her place.  Hehehe...  I can't wait to share my New York adventures with you.  I'm not cool enough to get into the shows at Fashion Week though.  Sorries!  I'll try to take some photos of the tents, which is prob the best view I will have.  But anyway, so excited!  Last time I was in New York, I ended up at a brunch spot eating one table away from Natalie Portman.  I think I froze and just stared at her until she left.  I felt like I was in a movie.  Hahahaha...  I must try to stay away from the Louboutin stores.  Omg someone lock up my credit cards!  Sorry for the lack of a Wednesday Wishlist this week.  I'm too busy packing and planning.

I want to thank everyone that has shown so much support and love to Drunk On Shoes.  If it wasn't for you all, I would not have this chance to meet more amazing bloggers and learn more about this world of fascinating people.  I'm so nervous.  Eeks!  I honestly don't see myself in the same realm as most bloggers since I'm such a newbie and am totally just stumbling through everything I'm doing right now.  I'm sure I'll just be stuttering and being totally dorky.  Yikes!  But I will try to make you all proud and be a big girl about it.  Thank you everyone!  *90 degree bow*
