DRUNK ON HAI - HIGH LOW AND EXTREME FLARE

Hi everyone!  I am coming to you from a state of exhaustion and excitement.  Exhaustion from all the  things going on in my life and things I've got on my plate... and yet I can't seem to put the plate down.  Everything I have going on is just so exciting and fun that I can't let any of it go.  Even my current project at work is enjoyable.  Tax compliance is one of the few things I tend to enjoy in my field.  Yes I am weird like that.  So I guess you could say I'm exhausted but happy... a hazy and buzzed kind of happy.  And to add to that, the weather has been so nice!  I think Chicago completely skipped Spring and just roared right into Summer.  Now I bet it will drop back down to 30 degrees just because I said that.  With nice weather comes all the fun Chicago summer events.  Festival season is starting and I am determined to hit up as many as I can!  "Woohoo" for reasons to drink during the day in the middle of the street!

Currently, I am still editing and compiling the photos for an upcoming post called DOSxGatsby.  If you follow me on Instagram, FB, or Twitter, you've probably seen some sneak peek photos.  I am going to be trying out something new with the Gatsby themed post and that's why it's kind of taking long.  But I swear it will be worth the wait.  I sooooooo hope you guys will enjoy it because it was such a fun project for me.  I feel sooooo fortunate to have had the incredible opportunity to actually take something I had floating around in my head and make it reality. I can't express how amazing that feels.  And to have had the people involved be so supportive and willing to help... I am just at a loss for words.  From start to finish, it all went insanely smoothly.  Especially for something I dreamt up and tried to accomplish with only a week of preparation.  I am so excited to share it with you all.  Hence the many late nights and state of exhaustion.  Fortunately, I got to squeeze out one outfit post in between Gatsby edits.  Enjoy!  =)

I hope you enjoy this outfit post.  It's from this past weekend where I spent a fabulous day at my friend's bridal shower.  Everything was so adorable!  The bridal party did an amazing job preparing and putting together all the cute details!  I am always so impressed with how creative people can be and it gets me so inspired.  Good job ladies!  I've been dying to wear this skirt out because I have been obsessed with it ever since I saw Aimee Song wear the blue version.  My GOD this skirt was near impossible to find!  I really wanted the blue one but it gets sold out so fast and it's usually only available through Australian websites.  Sigh.  As soon as I saw the black one in my size available, I didn't hesitate.  After it came in, I found myself in another pickle.  What did I have that would really work amazing with this skirt?!  That's where HAI Clothing came to the rescue.  They sent me over this super fun and light high/low top.  It looks like a sweater but it's not.  The material is actually really thin and light which made it okay to wear on a hotter day.  I absolutely love the crazy floral print because, and let me know if this doesn't make sense, because it doesn't look so "flower-y"?  Hahaha.  The colors are fun and the high/low effect really compliments my crazy flared skirt.  This week is going to be another crazy one for me.  I've got some fun events and my first Chicago festival this weekend.  Woohoo!!!  Come find me at the Belmont-Sheffield Music festival!  Unless it rains.. DOS don't do rain...

I don't really have that much to say here except that on this day in Dallas we ate at The Porch and it was amaaaaaaaaaaaZING!  Oh and I also changed up my outfit after lunch.  Don't judge.  I was on vaycay, and I can change my outfit a hundred times in a day if I want to!  Mmmmkhaaay?!  *head swerve pointer finger up*  This strawberry cocktail thingy jingy was obvi so good because it really didn't leave my hand.  This has got to be my favorite way to eat or drink any meal.  Al fresco.  And a kind of a half inside half outside situation like the patio at The Porch.  I'm one of those weirdos that likes to people watch as I eat or sip on a drink.  I actually don't care much about the people I'm sitting with.  LOL.  JK!  Love you guys!  It just feels so good to get some sunshine rays as you throw back one too many cocktails in the middle of the day.  Again, vacation... no judgy.  Gawd, I miss Dallas.

BLOGGER ON THE GO

Bloggers are pretty married to three things... their phones, their cameras, and their computers.  But of course we need to jazz it up in any way we can.  And what better to jazz up my MacBook Air than with a bright neon orange C/Fan case!  My previous neon obsession last year was citron and I think this year it is neon orange or "electric lava" as C/Fan calls it.  I always find it interesting when I change my mind on what I like and what I don't like.  There used to be a time when I thought orange was so gross.  But I guess that's what is great about fashion and life, what you thought you would never like, can all of a sudden be your current obsession.  And man, neon orange is just so hawt to me right now.  Hahaha.  Especially in a laptop sleeve.  What I love about this C/Fan one is that it can also look like a simple over-sized envelope clutch so I can feel like an undercover techie nerd.  And since I have the 11 inch Air, I can slip in some other items in this as well.  Nothing too bulky or else it starts to bend and lose it's shape which is no bueno.  I don't normally blog outside of my house since I don't need to subject the public to seeing me weed through a million photos of myself.  But now that I have such a pretty case, the public might just have to deal with it.  So if you see me toting around my "electric lava" case, you'll know wassup!  Or maybe there's just a panini in there and a few fashion mags.  I like to keep ya guessing.

POOLSIDE

Another set from my vaycay in Dallas.  And also one of my favorites.  Making the decision to stay an extra night at Hotel ZaZa was probably one of my best ideas of 2013 so far.  This particular day was their official opening of their pool and we got a fab front row seat to all the fun.  Sponsored by Veuve Clicquot meant there was bubbly and rounds of drinks being passed around throughout the day.  But my favorite was their white wine sangria pitchers.  YUMMMMYYYYY... I am such a wino.  It was a perfect day.  The sun was out and shining bright and finally enough to give me just a teeny taste of that Dallas heat.  It was a little chilly the other previous days.  But this day, it felt so good to soak up the rays.  And when it got too hot, we just popped open the umbrella and it was perfect under the shade.  We spent all day poolside sippin' on cocktails and hanging out with the best group of peeps we befriended over the weekend.  Shout outs to Steph, Alex, Elisa, and Roland!  The Hubster and I miss you guys!

I am absolutely smitten kitten with this Iris & Ink silk tee!  It is perfectly airy and soft.  I want all the colors!  In my opinion, a definite must have for the spring and summer.  I also have a major thing for Panama hats right now.  This fun straw style is just the icing on the cake of any summery casual outfit.  My second must have item to add into your wardrobe.  What are some of your spring or summer must haves?

DRUNK ON AY CHIWOWA!

So when a place like Ay Chiwowa contacts you and asks you if you would like to come in and taste their new tacos and tequila cocktails for their 5 day Cinco de Mayo celebration, you only say one thing.  Si!  Actually... HELL SI!  I got off work, went home, put on my stretchiest skinnies and my dog snarl tee and was zooming out the door.  Absolutely love this tee.  It says, feed me or I will rip out your carotid artery.  RAWR!  Bring on the nyummies!  If you  have no plans this weekend.  Definitely hit up Ay Chiwowa for their Cinco days of Cinco de Mayo Celebration!

These stole the show for me.  I absolutely loooooooooooooooooove the guacamole at Ay Chiwowa.  They have a mango guac that is out of this world!  I could eat guac all day errrrrrday.  This was also the first time I had their corn salsa and it was soooooooo good.  These two are a must have!

The steak taco was yuuuuuum!  I topped it with some guac and it was even better.  I think if I added some hot sauce it would have been even even even more better!  For some reason I love drenching mexican food in hot sauce.

Thanks to Tanteo for the yummy tequila drinks and trying to educate me on all things tequila-ish.  My favorite was the Blood Orange Paloma.  I can't really handle tequila that well.  I think college ruined that for me.  But this Blood Orange Paloma was perfect!  I could still taste the good parts of tequila without reliving the memories of being hunched over a dumpster outside of The Canopy from one too many cheap tequila shots.  (Only my U of I peeps will get that one)  But I thoroughly enjoyed this cocktail.  Actually I had about three.  Yummy!

The Shrimp taco was only okay.  Maybe because I just got back from Dallas where I had some bomb ass shrimp tacos so I was super biased.  It's worth a shot if you are curious.  =)

My fave taco of the night.  The pork taco.  Nom Nom Nom!

So what's my conclusion on Ay Chiwowa?  Go for the guacamole and corn salsa!  You will need something to soak up all that yummy tequila.  Their drinks are super tasty and packs a punch.  Don't just get one glass of margarita like a pansy.  Get a whole pitcher.  I was a pansy last night and it is not sitting well with me.  Disappointed in myself.  Also, because Underground has been under construction for what seems like FOREVER (man I miss it so much), the music at Ay Chiwowa is on point.  I wanna say it's the same DJs?  So that's really what makes it a win for me.  Good drinks, guacamole for days, and bumpin' music.  Woot!  So go celebrate cinco de mayo with the great staff at Ay Chiwowa.  You will NOT be disappointed.  They know how to have a good time.  Maybe I'll run into ya and eat your corn salsa.  =)
