NEON WRAPPED

Heyyyyy there.  Here I go again with a weekend recap.  As if you guys really care.  It's mostly for me to be able to look back and go.. "oh yeaaaaa.. THAT'S what I did that weekend".  Although I don't think I'll need anything to help me remember this past weekend.  It was the first weekend in a while that was themed just The Hubster and DOS.  We were glued at the hip all weekend.  Starting with a dinner date night on Friday that mixed in a trip to Best Buy and making friends with the Samsung employees, getting lei'd at a liquor store and tasting some beer, biking to dinner, running through a freak rain storm and drunken bike races through our alley.  I love nights where it just turns out to be so random.  I think all I said before we left the house was, let's go get sushi.  The rest kind of just... happened.  The only downside was that The Hubster beat me in our drunken bike race.  It has now become my mission to beat him on this.  Though I think the only reason he won is because my bike has smaller wheels so therefore my widdle leggies need to pedal that much faster!

Saturday was spent doing some light chores and taking our pupperoo to the dog park.  Wrigleyboo is so cute at the dog park.  He's such a feisty little boy at home but at the dog park he gets super shy.  Melts my heart so much.  Sometimes when he's not looking, I'll hide and he starts sniffing the ground for my scent to try to find me.  Hahaha.  So adorbs!  At night, I got dolled up in this outfit you see here and went to the Starving Artist event for the Chicago Artists Coalition.  It was such a fun event and I really loved the cause.  The Chicago Artists Coalition helps artists that may not have their own space, or materials and gives them a place to either create their art or display it.  Notable happenings of the night?  Taco battle between Big Star and Antique Taco.  It was sooooo hard choosing one!  Hennessy flowing from every direction thanks to Benjamin Newby.  Hmmm I wonder why I am always shwasted after I see him?  Maybe because he makes things like Henny popsicles and jello shots?  Hmm what else happened?  Oh!  Nail art by Astro Wifey!  I always wanted her to jazz up my fingers.  Her nail art that night was themed after some of the art in the gallery.  And of course no event is quite complete without a photobooth.  Uhhhh yea, we photo-whored it up.

We topped off our Hubster + DOS weekend with one of our favorite events in Chicago.  THE PRIDE PARADE!  We've pretty much gone to see the parade every year since we moved to Lakeview.  It's always one crazy party with people just celebrating love, every kind of love.  It also gives people a chance to be as close to naked as possible.  LOL.  I'll have a separate PRIDE post coming soon so I'll save my words for that one.  Needless to say, hubz and I got rocked on margaritas and hobbled home for a much needed drunken power nap.  And as if we couldn't get any more BARF inducing, for dinner we decided to try our hand at cooking a Mexican feast together.  All inspired by the bottles of hot sauce and marinade that Big Star gave us on Saturday night.  It doesn't happen that often because it takes a lot of time but I love having cooking adventures with my hubby.  It always reminds me that we make a pretty good team even though we are so opposite.  He likes to follow recipes as exact as possible whereas I like to just free ball it.  The combination of the two usually yields good food.  =D

So that pretty much sums up my weekend with my boo.  Did we gross you out yet?  Lol.  I think it's so important in a marriage to have weekends like that.  Something more than just going out to an obligatory dinner date.  I find it more fulfilling having adventures together, trying out new things, or just acting like immature idiots.  Marriage is hard guys and mine is no perfect fairy tale, like a lot of my friends seem to think.  LOL.  So moments like these remind you what really matters and not to be so serious all the time.  The Hubster and I drive each other crazy and I'll be the first to say that I'm a little insane.  He deals with a lot.  I can go from zero to sixty in about .05 nano seconds and completely come from left field.  But there's really no one else that I'd rather see nodding and staring blankly right at me as I'm yelling my ass off.

So I guess this post is dedicated to The Hubster.  Thank you for a fantastic weekend.  I love ya and have fun in Montreal this weekend!  Tell those strippers to follow my blog m'kay?  Just slip my card into their g-string.  Thanks!

*Note:  It was a UNISEX bathroom.  Furthermore, all the women in line half swooned and half wanted to beat my ass.  Not my fault my hubby is better than yours.  MUAHAHA!

A WANG THANG: NON PLATFORM HEEL AND LEATHER SHORTS

I'm trying out a couple of things here that I haven't really given a chance before.  Leather shorts and a NON platform heel!  GASP!  Let's start with the shorts.  I've been searching for a good fitting pair of faux leather shorts for a while.  Faux because I was a little scurrrred to invest in a pair of real leather shorts not knowing if I'd wear it that much.  Let's be honest.  Chicago is either super cold, or super hot... so leather shorts can sometimes just be silly because you are either literally freezing your a$$ off or sweating your a$$ off.  Luckily I stumbled upon this pair and they fit me pretty well.  Out came the plastic and they were mine.

Now on to the shoesies.  LC, aka honey chu chu, aka chucharoo, has been kind of nagging me for months to get a pair of non-platform heels in a 'naked' shoe style.  Not sure if anyone else noticed, but momma loves the platforms.  I tried out a few 'naked' shoes but nothing really grabbed me.  Okay that's a lie.. there was a pair of Saint Laurent ones but OMG for so little leather, the price tag was quite hefty.  I'm glad I waited it out.  Not that these Wangs were that much cheaper but in my opinion had a pretty fab design.  I love the ankle cuffs so much on these and the croc embossed leather is just delish.  Still, when I purchased them, I half hoped that they wouldn't fit.  I kind of always secretly wish that when I splurge on a shoe.  I take it as the universe telling me to save my monies.  Not this time though.  The universe was saying "you need a pair of NON platform heels".  And who am I to argue with the universe?!  I mean really... that's just asking for trouble.

I want to thank EVERYONE for their sweet comments on the DOSxGatsby post.  I really am so motivated by everyones support and love.  I also feel incredibly blessed to have had the opportunity to put the whole thing together.  I wouldn't have been able to accomplish any of it without all of your support and encouragement.  I hope to keep bringing you creative shoots and just all around funsies as I continue on this little journey.  And I want to thank my amazing hubby for putting up with all of this craziness!  I love you soooo much for thinking that I look great in every photo, even though I keep telling you over and over that there IS such a thing as a BAD angle.  MUAH!  Lastly and most importantly, Happy Birthday to my guardian angel.  I know you are watching me and I hope you are proud and smiling.  Not a day goes by without a thought of you.  You are the reason for who I am and you are the reason for all of this.

(PS, I dedicate the title of this post to LAURZ)

AL FRESCO

I don't really have that much to say here except that on this day in Dallas we ate at The Porch and it was amaaaaaaaaaaaZING!  Oh and I also changed up my outfit after lunch.  Don't judge.  I was on vaycay, and I can change my outfit a hundred times in a day if I want to!  Mmmmkhaaay?!  *head swerve pointer finger up*  This strawberry cocktail thingy jingy was obvi so good because it really didn't leave my hand.  This has got to be my favorite way to eat or drink any meal.  Al fresco.  And a kind of a half inside half outside situation like the patio at The Porch.  I'm one of those weirdos that likes to people watch as I eat or sip on a drink.  I actually don't care much about the people I'm sitting with.  LOL.  JK!  Love you guys!  It just feels so good to get some sunshine rays as you throw back one too many cocktails in the middle of the day.  Again, vacation... no judgy.  Gawd, I miss Dallas.

Wednesday Wishlist 5/2/12

Happy Wednesday everyone!  I've got a whole slew of items up on this one.  Hehehehe...  Probably because I have accumulated quite a bit since my last Wednesday Wishlist.  I'm loving bold striped pants right now and this pair is perfect for spring/summer.  It also has some super cute and dramatic back pockets.  I love clothes that have a funky twist to them.  I also have an affinity to chain bracelets.  Probably because my wrists are too small for bangles and they never fit me quite right.  Chain bracelets just look the best on me.  Tortoise shell sunnies are a classic and great summer pair must have.  The cat eye shape make these fun and flirty.  I've also been eyeing an awesome white bag since I don't have a white bag in my collection.  This Phillip Lim seems like it could fit all the things I bring around every day.  I am a large bag kind of gal.  I tend to bring way to much with me because sometimes you just never know where your day will take you.  I'm keeping this outfit easy breezy with a soft chambray shirt and stacked platforms as usual.  Final touches that pull it all together with a statement ring that matches the shoes and a white accent necklace to match the bag and we're done!

Which are your favorite pieces?  I'd love to know!
