MIAMI DAYS

Temperatures are plummeting in Chicago!  Today it was 7 degrees and hard to bear.  These are the days that it really blows living in the Windy City.  Especially when the wind is what will kill you by hitting subzero temps.  GAH!  So in honor of Chicago trying to turn me into a popsicle, I shall post my first set of photos from my Miami trip which was only a month ago but feels like 6 months ago.  Oh how I miss the sun, the surf, the ocean breeze and the hotel.  Oh dear lawd, the hotel.  We were lucky enough to be staying at the Fontainebleau in Miami and boy oh boy were we spoiled.  From the amazing restaurants and incredible service to the private beach access just steps away from the pool area.  It was definitely a trip to remember.  I got some much needed relaxation and brought home one glorious tan, which I am happy to say, I still have some remnants of.  WOOT!  Please excuse the lag on posts as I am nearing busy season at work.  Gotta make that cheddar to support my shopping addictions nam sayin'?  So please bear with me and I hope everyone is enjoying this holiday season!!  Let's all hope for a white Christmas and lots of fresh powder for snowbaording!!!  Next trip for me will be Park City, Utah babyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!

DRUNK ON FREE PEOPLE - PITCHFORK DAY THREE

Welcome to my Pitchfork Day Three steezy!  I must admit, I got a bit self conscious trotting around with my mid section just out there for the world to see.  Let's be honest, I'm not 18 anymore and am more aware of my jiggly bits than I ever was.  On top of the fact that ab workouts are about as fun as eating hot coals.  But when you find such an amazing bralette and pseudo crop top like this one from Free People, you just have to give it a whirl.  And it went absolutely perfect with an old FP skirt I had in my closet already to pull together that boho look.  Boho is one of my faaaaaavorite looks though I have very little opportunity to really rock that style being a tax nerd during the week.  Sunday at Pitchfork was absolutely gorgeous.  It was still on the hot side but not humid.  No lie, I was mainly there to watch the R Kelly performance later that night.  I can't even describe to you how happy I get when an R Kelly track comes on.  I decided that there's no better way to kill some time at the festival than making a fresh flower crown and sitting on the grass.

Here's Luis from Chic Overload!  He was supposed to be making a flower crown with me but he gave up after attaching one flower.  LOL.  It's okay.  It's always a great time whenever I run into this cutie.  He quit on his crown but never quit chasing after some fab festival fashions and snapping some photos.  Lucky for me, the super adorbs Elin Alexander never surrendered.  Hers turned out soooo cute!  I think she learned first hand that those DIY videos and blogs saying that making one is easy is somewhat of a lie.  LOL.  Making a flower crown actually takes a pretty long time.  It takes lots of patience and in my case, lots of wine.  It was definitely a perfect music festival activity... besides all the second hand high going on all around me.

The day was insanely fun and The Hubster and I camped out pretty close to the stage for R Kelly's performance.  I full on and proudly admit, I screamed like a little girl and jammed the crap out of all the songs he performed.  Ignition, Fiesta, I'm A Flirt, Down Low, Hotel, I Believe I Can Fly and so much more.  It was like a time machine came and took me back to those days of riding around in the car with my friends and jamming out to a little Kells.  And then also hitting up those college parties and just grinding the night away... Feelin' on yo booooooty.. booooooty... boo hoo hoo hoo teeee... boo boo teeeeeee!  Hahaha.  Hope you enjoy these photos!

A WANG THANG: NON PLATFORM HEEL AND LEATHER SHORTS

I'm trying out a couple of things here that I haven't really given a chance before.  Leather shorts and a NON platform heel!  GASP!  Let's start with the shorts.  I've been searching for a good fitting pair of faux leather shorts for a while.  Faux because I was a little scurrrred to invest in a pair of real leather shorts not knowing if I'd wear it that much.  Let's be honest.  Chicago is either super cold, or super hot... so leather shorts can sometimes just be silly because you are either literally freezing your a$$ off or sweating your a$$ off.  Luckily I stumbled upon this pair and they fit me pretty well.  Out came the plastic and they were mine.

Now on to the shoesies.  LC, aka honey chu chu, aka chucharoo, has been kind of nagging me for months to get a pair of non-platform heels in a 'naked' shoe style.  Not sure if anyone else noticed, but momma loves the platforms.  I tried out a few 'naked' shoes but nothing really grabbed me.  Okay that's a lie.. there was a pair of Saint Laurent ones but OMG for so little leather, the price tag was quite hefty.  I'm glad I waited it out.  Not that these Wangs were that much cheaper but in my opinion had a pretty fab design.  I love the ankle cuffs so much on these and the croc embossed leather is just delish.  Still, when I purchased them, I half hoped that they wouldn't fit.  I kind of always secretly wish that when I splurge on a shoe.  I take it as the universe telling me to save my monies.  Not this time though.  The universe was saying "you need a pair of NON platform heels".  And who am I to argue with the universe?!  I mean really... that's just asking for trouble.

I want to thank EVERYONE for their sweet comments on the DOSxGatsby post.  I really am so motivated by everyones support and love.  I also feel incredibly blessed to have had the opportunity to put the whole thing together.  I wouldn't have been able to accomplish any of it without all of your support and encouragement.  I hope to keep bringing you creative shoots and just all around funsies as I continue on this little journey.  And I want to thank my amazing hubby for putting up with all of this craziness!  I love you soooo much for thinking that I look great in every photo, even though I keep telling you over and over that there IS such a thing as a BAD angle.  MUAH!  Lastly and most importantly, Happy Birthday to my guardian angel.  I know you are watching me and I hope you are proud and smiling.  Not a day goes by without a thought of you.  You are the reason for who I am and you are the reason for all of this.

(PS, I dedicate the title of this post to LAURZ)

BLOGGER ON THE GO

Bloggers are pretty married to three things... their phones, their cameras, and their computers.  But of course we need to jazz it up in any way we can.  And what better to jazz up my MacBook Air than with a bright neon orange C/Fan case!  My previous neon obsession last year was citron and I think this year it is neon orange or "electric lava" as C/Fan calls it.  I always find it interesting when I change my mind on what I like and what I don't like.  There used to be a time when I thought orange was so gross.  But I guess that's what is great about fashion and life, what you thought you would never like, can all of a sudden be your current obsession.  And man, neon orange is just so hawt to me right now.  Hahaha.  Especially in a laptop sleeve.  What I love about this C/Fan one is that it can also look like a simple over-sized envelope clutch so I can feel like an undercover techie nerd.  And since I have the 11 inch Air, I can slip in some other items in this as well.  Nothing too bulky or else it starts to bend and lose it's shape which is no bueno.  I don't normally blog outside of my house since I don't need to subject the public to seeing me weed through a million photos of myself.  But now that I have such a pretty case, the public might just have to deal with it.  So if you see me toting around my "electric lava" case, you'll know wassup!  Or maybe there's just a panini in there and a few fashion mags.  I like to keep ya guessing.
