DRUNK ON FREE PEOPLE - PITCHFORK DAY ONE

Heyyyyyy there!  If you didn't know, Pitchfork was this past weekend which is just one of the music festivals that happen here in Chicago.  Lucky for us, we won tickets to this festival a few weeks ago.  Unlike the hubby, I'm not the most in tune with musical genres but I do love being outside and having a reason to have wine in the middle of the day whilst roasting in the sun.  So that is precisely what we did.  I absolutely love going to festivals, as I've said about a million times, and what is better to wear at a festival than Free People!  It was insanely hot and humid on Friday so this dress was perfect!  So easy to wear, so light and airy, and so fun with the print and the lace up side details.  Whenever I think of festival wear, Free People is always the first thing that comes to my mind.  Mostly because I love the boho look!  FP is stocked full of amazing summer dresses to get through the hot and sticky summer months here in Chicago and still look so stylish and unique.  I have loved Free People for as long as I can remember and I want to thank them for my amazing Pitchfork outfits!  Lollapalooza is coming up and if you haven't picked out your Lolla outfit, I highly suggest standing out in some FP steezy!

On this day I also had a vegan sloppy joe and it was SOOO good!  Have you guys every been to The Chicago Diner?  Apparently it's a vegan restaurant but with items like burgers, tacos, philly cheesesteaks, but all vegan!  I was really skeptical at first, even though the hubster and I have only heard amazing things about it, but now after having their vegan sloppy joe, I might have to go check out the actual restaurant.  They have two locations in Chicago.  One in Logan Square and the other in Lakeview!  Woohoo!  My hood!  Not gunna lie, I once had a veggie hot dog from somewhere and almost passed out from the grossness so I will still be a little wary, but I am definitely going to give The Chicago Diner a go!

Anywaaaaaaaaaaaaay, I hope you guys enjoy the pics!

DRUNK ON ELIZABETH SHOWERS - SILVER DETAILS

Hi guys!  I busted out my leather shorts again!  I wanted to show you all how you can take leather shorts and dress them down, or dress them up like I did here.  Okay that's a lie.  This was just all coincidence that I wore them and am posting this outfit right right after the other one.  Sigh, it's really hard for me to lie to you guys.

Anyhoozah... I am still trying to recover from a jam packed weekend.  Summer hours has finally started for my department which means I get pretty much every other Friday off.  YEAAAAAAAAAH!!  Bring on AAALLL the jealous-ness!  Friday was spent biking around and running errands.  It felt so good to catch up on some of the things I've been meaning to do but haven't had the time to.  Then it was off to a fun night with some super fun out of town peeps.

Saturday, I ventured into suburbia (gasp) to have brunch at e+o with another fun group and got to taste so many nom nom nommies thanks to Aeron!  The spam fried rice and the kale salad and the "it's like that" roll... hash tag drooooooooool.  Saturday ended with the hubster and me running our first 5K!  It was the LivingSocial Glow Run Dance Party which was friggin' fuuuuuuuuuun!  And yes, it's because after the finish line, there is a huge dance party IN the Soldier Field stadium.  Give me wine and a dance party at the end and I'll run ANY 5K.

Sunday was Anita Day.  One of my besties went and eloped!  But that won't stop me from throwing her a special girly day that was all about her... hence, Anita Day.  Man, reliving the weekend like this got me all tired.  It was all so fun and worth it though.  One of my best weekends for sure.  If you follow me on Instagram and saw all the pics, then you know w'sup.  What?  You don't follow me on Instagram?  You are a mystery to me.

I want to thank Elizabeth Showers for these beautiful vine inspired bangles!  Bangles are usually very tricky for me.  A lot of times there aren't any size options and they are too big for my wrists.  Some of them just fly off of me while I'm in mid conversation because I'm one of those crazy people that have insane hand gestures while they talk.  But that doesn't stop me from wearing them.  I just wear them in a different spot on my arm.  Depending on the bangle, it can look really fun and interesting wearing them higher up on your arm.  These vine ones are perfect for the look and totes matches my silver sequin Miu Mius.  I've been on a pretty big gold kick lately but it felt really good to wear silver again.  It works so much better with a black and white combo don't ya think?  Please follow Elizabeth Showers on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram.  Don't know what those are?  Hmm.. you are a mystery to me.

DRUNK ON HAI - HIGH LOW AND EXTREME FLARE

Hi everyone!  I am coming to you from a state of exhaustion and excitement.  Exhaustion from all the  things going on in my life and things I've got on my plate... and yet I can't seem to put the plate down.  Everything I have going on is just so exciting and fun that I can't let any of it go.  Even my current project at work is enjoyable.  Tax compliance is one of the few things I tend to enjoy in my field.  Yes I am weird like that.  So I guess you could say I'm exhausted but happy... a hazy and buzzed kind of happy.  And to add to that, the weather has been so nice!  I think Chicago completely skipped Spring and just roared right into Summer.  Now I bet it will drop back down to 30 degrees just because I said that.  With nice weather comes all the fun Chicago summer events.  Festival season is starting and I am determined to hit up as many as I can!  "Woohoo" for reasons to drink during the day in the middle of the street!

Currently, I am still editing and compiling the photos for an upcoming post called DOSxGatsby.  If you follow me on Instagram, FB, or Twitter, you've probably seen some sneak peek photos.  I am going to be trying out something new with the Gatsby themed post and that's why it's kind of taking long.  But I swear it will be worth the wait.  I sooooooo hope you guys will enjoy it because it was such a fun project for me.  I feel sooooo fortunate to have had the incredible opportunity to actually take something I had floating around in my head and make it reality. I can't express how amazing that feels.  And to have had the people involved be so supportive and willing to help... I am just at a loss for words.  From start to finish, it all went insanely smoothly.  Especially for something I dreamt up and tried to accomplish with only a week of preparation.  I am so excited to share it with you all.  Hence the many late nights and state of exhaustion.  Fortunately, I got to squeeze out one outfit post in between Gatsby edits.  Enjoy!  =)

I hope you enjoy this outfit post.  It's from this past weekend where I spent a fabulous day at my friend's bridal shower.  Everything was so adorable!  The bridal party did an amazing job preparing and putting together all the cute details!  I am always so impressed with how creative people can be and it gets me so inspired.  Good job ladies!  I've been dying to wear this skirt out because I have been obsessed with it ever since I saw Aimee Song wear the blue version.  My GOD this skirt was near impossible to find!  I really wanted the blue one but it gets sold out so fast and it's usually only available through Australian websites.  Sigh.  As soon as I saw the black one in my size available, I didn't hesitate.  After it came in, I found myself in another pickle.  What did I have that would really work amazing with this skirt?!  That's where HAI Clothing came to the rescue.  They sent me over this super fun and light high/low top.  It looks like a sweater but it's not.  The material is actually really thin and light which made it okay to wear on a hotter day.  I absolutely love the crazy floral print because, and let me know if this doesn't make sense, because it doesn't look so "flower-y"?  Hahaha.  The colors are fun and the high/low effect really compliments my crazy flared skirt.  This week is going to be another crazy one for me.  I've got some fun events and my first Chicago festival this weekend.  Woohoo!!!  Come find me at the Belmont-Sheffield Music festival!  Unless it rains.. DOS don't do rain...

DRUNK ON HELENA QUINN - PART THREE

Part Three

Meet "Ilse".  She is an amazing coat.  She's a care free spirit and gives the greatest hugs.  Hehehe.  I love love love this coat.  The large cropped sleeves are heaven to me.  So easy to wear!  She comes in multiple colors but I went with the gray to pop off against this amazing red wall.  It's actually a fire station right next to Edith Hart.  Did I mention Edith Hart is where you can pick up your very own Helena Quinn Ilse?  I love these set of photos shot by my talented homie Hoang who didn't seem to mind hanging out with a bunch o' ladies all day.  I think he got a glimpse of what it's like to be in girl world.  I'm surprised he didn't run away screaming.  I think he found it very educational.  Hahaha.  I went with the same dress so that you can see how just adding a different spring coat can completely change the look of the same dress.  OORRRRR... I was just too lazy to put on another outfit.  You decide.  And did I mention I've got a thing with hats right now?  Maybe it's because my roots are down to my elbows and I haven't had time to get to my colorist.  I feel like 30% of fashion is hiding all your little imperfections.  Lol.  Regardless, I am loving rocking a hat these days.  I wish I could wear them during work.  I will definitely be trying to grow my hat collection this summer.

I hope you enjoyed all the photos from my Helena Quinn x Edith Hart shoot.  It was super last minute on my part but I think we got some amazing shots and I took home one very special coat.  Can you guess which one joins my Carolyn coat as it's new sister?
