DRUNK ON FREE PEOPLE - PITCHFORK DAY ONE

Heyyyyyy there!  If you didn't know, Pitchfork was this past weekend which is just one of the music festivals that happen here in Chicago.  Lucky for us, we won tickets to this festival a few weeks ago.  Unlike the hubby, I'm not the most in tune with musical genres but I do love being outside and having a reason to have wine in the middle of the day whilst roasting in the sun.  So that is precisely what we did.  I absolutely love going to festivals, as I've said about a million times, and what is better to wear at a festival than Free People!  It was insanely hot and humid on Friday so this dress was perfect!  So easy to wear, so light and airy, and so fun with the print and the lace up side details.  Whenever I think of festival wear, Free People is always the first thing that comes to my mind.  Mostly because I love the boho look!  FP is stocked full of amazing summer dresses to get through the hot and sticky summer months here in Chicago and still look so stylish and unique.  I have loved Free People for as long as I can remember and I want to thank them for my amazing Pitchfork outfits!  Lollapalooza is coming up and if you haven't picked out your Lolla outfit, I highly suggest standing out in some FP steezy!

On this day I also had a vegan sloppy joe and it was SOOO good!  Have you guys every been to The Chicago Diner?  Apparently it's a vegan restaurant but with items like burgers, tacos, philly cheesesteaks, but all vegan!  I was really skeptical at first, even though the hubster and I have only heard amazing things about it, but now after having their vegan sloppy joe, I might have to go check out the actual restaurant.  They have two locations in Chicago.  One in Logan Square and the other in Lakeview!  Woohoo!  My hood!  Not gunna lie, I once had a veggie hot dog from somewhere and almost passed out from the grossness so I will still be a little wary, but I am definitely going to give The Chicago Diner a go!

Anywaaaaaaaaaaaaay, I hope you guys enjoy the pics!

Heyyyyyyy.  Did everyone have a great weekend?  I did.  Only because there was something called Beer Olympics that I was involved in.  Probably the best game ever created.  My hats off to the DePaul crew for their amazeballs creativity and genius-ness.  Luckily it did not rain on Sunday so we were able to still have the BBQ that was planned.  I had a blast!  And the party continued at a bar down the street and ended with a giant fishbowl filled with some sort of red concoction and about a million giant straws.  Definitely brought me back to my college days.  And let's keep it 100, who doesn't want to relive college sometimes?!  Never a dull moment with that group.  Here are some interesting quotes from the weekend.  "Koala!  Koala!  Koala!"  "If you are not holding the buns, you may not speak."  "What girl do you know has electrical tape handy?!"  "I have electrical tape!"  (said by the same girl who said previous statement)  "Door knobs, light bulbs, door knobs, light bulbs, door knobs, light bulbs."  "Fine, I'll give you my dance move."  "Take a picture of me holding my shirt up so I can show my boys."  "Omg who was that guy?!  Ew!  Throw away that straw right now!"  Yes, definitely one interesting day.

I went for the morbid cute-sy look for that day with my blush pink sweater and black skulls.  One of my awesome purchases from Brandy Melville in Santa Monica.  Sadness that I somehow ripped a hole in the sleeve by the time the night was over.  Signs of a fun night I guess.  Not much to say about this look.  Easy-peasy and perfect for a daytime BBQ.  The sweater is super light and airy and it wasn't super hot that day.  Paired with some wicked shorts I got from Coal N Terry Vintage.  Fun fact:  when I try to go to Coal N Terry Vintage's website at work, I get blocked because it is categorized as "sex".  Interesting.  So maybe don't try to go on that site while you are at work.  I'm just saving you from the potential red flag from your IT department.  Learn from others' mistakes y'all!

So I am trying to push out this post because as of tomorrow night I will be in New York!  Woot!  I am super excited to be going to another Top Influencer partaaay.  I remember at the last one I got to meet Ms. Wendy and almost died on the spot.  I, again, want to thank you all for the support and love on this blog.  These kind of things would not happen if one, I totally sucked at this, and two, no one looked at this.  So thank you everyone!  It's been over a year and I am still so humbled by all the love I get.  XOXOXOXOXOXO!!!!  I'll be in NY just enough for the first few days of fashion week but yea... still not cool enough to get into a show.  But I am going to roam Lincoln Square staring at all the beautiful people like any other fashion crazed geek.  High fives all around.  The best part is that I have two of my bestest friends coming with me and who I am dragging along to stalk celebrities and be a total tourist.  Laurz from DEUX CHICAGO and Sung from..... from high school!  JEA JEA JEAAA!  As I am typing this, I will tell you, I have a belt and one clutch in my suitcase and that's it.  I really need to get packing.  I am by far the WORST packer ever.  My dad specifically requested that I not go too crazy on shopping while in NY.  It's like he doesn't even KNOW his daughter.  Hopefully I will keep it under control though.  I won't have my normal photogs with me so it's up to Laurz and Sung to learn some DSLR work with the quickness.  Wish us luck!!  Follow me on Instagram and Twitter to see me in action in NY during the next few days (handle - drunkonshoes).  =)

How cute is this!?  Such a wonderful display of love.  Makes me want to look at The Hubster like "Where's ours at man!?!"  Oh and anyone notice I finally got my hair done?  No more 3 inch roots and "fake" ombre style.

Sometimes it can be difficult to find a black dress that still has some punch.  Well look no further because I've got the perfect one.  Thanks to my shopping extravaganza at Edith Hart last week, I've got this fun and fabulous dress in my closet.  I wore it out immediately the next day after I bought it.  The Hubster and I went to the Cheeky Chicago event "Cheekiest Guys of Summer 2012" out on Oak Street Beach. I was pretty overdressed and probably wore the wrong shoes for a beach event but I didn't care.  I got way too excited to rock this beauty.  I'm probably going to get it shortened to give it a little more sass.  =)  What do you guys think?  Love?

I hope everyone had a great weekend!  I spent most of this weekend watching a korean drama.  They are my downfall.  If it wasn't for my friends calling me out at night, I probably would not have left the house.  I still made time to hit up the Vintage Garage on Sunday though, thanks to tickets I won from Cheeky Chicago.  They are so great!  Thanks to being Cheeky, I got some amazing jewelry pieces for dirt cheap.  Woohoo!  Here are some shots we took at the Cheeky event last week.  Enjoy!

WRAP AND TIE AND WINE

Hey y'all!  I'm back from Texas.  Feels good to be home.  Texas was really really hot but the wedding was entirely indoors so it worked out.  The ceremony was very touching.  I couldn't help but admire the way the groom was looking at the bride.  He was cheesing the entire time.  LOVES IT!  Hahahaha...

These photos were from about a week and a half ago when I attended an event held at the James Hotel that was so perfect for me for three big reasons.  One, it was to benefit Hubbard Street Dance, which is an amazing dance company that performs contemporary dance shows in Chicago.  (Show your support by attending a show or two!)  Two, it was also a wine tasting event hosting many different wine makers from all over the country.  You all know how much I LOOOOOOOVE wine.  Three, The Hubster won the tickets to the event!  I'm not quite sure why we are winning things lately, but I really hope our lucky streak continues.  Thanks so much to Cheeky Chicago for being a part of this event and giving us a chance to win these amazing event tickets.  If you want to know where all the fun events are and just anything Chicago related, visit their website and follow them on twitter @cheekychicago.

This particular event was on a weekday right after work which is always a little challenging because I don't want to be in my stuffy work gear at a fun wine tasting event.  So I just whipped out my amazing Calvin Tran piece.  This "dress" can also be worn low as a skirt.  You can also change up where you want the pleats and bow to be.  There are no rules with this one.  If you are in the Chicago Lincoln Park area, stop by his store on Halsted.  Maybe you'll run into him and he'll dress you.  It's pretty fun and he is hilarious.

OH!  And I also rolled up to the event in an UBER SUV.  If you don't know what UBER is, well then, educate yoself!  UBER is a great way to get around the city if you are just not in the mood to hail a cab and also get yelled at for wanting to use a credit card.  With UBER, you just use your phone to order your ride.  It comes to you and you get charged via your account so there is no mess about having to have cash or even a credit card.  This particular week, they were giving out free rides for new members.  It was the perfect time for me to use it because I needed to get to the James Hotel from my office.  The driver was there within 2 minutes and I hopped into an SUV with black tinted windows.  I kind of felt like a Kardashian.  They are always in an SUV with black tinted windows no?  Either way, I felt so BOSS!  I suggest everyone take an UBER ride.  Like, NOW!

Excuse the glow in the dark bracelet.  Lol.  It was what they gave us to wear as VIP guests.  Woot!  You know we VIPs, we love to glow.  Bwahahaha.

Okay, no joke.  I sampled almost every wine in the room and ended up here for the rest of the night.  Nello Olivo had tastings of some of the best red wines I've ever had.  It was so smooth and didn't have that minor bite you sometimes get when the wine hits the back of your throat.  Once I had his wines, I couldn't go back to any other table.  Which ones were my favorites?  Why I am glad you asked:  2007 Toscanello, 2008 Petite Syrah, 2007 Sangiovese and a secret one not yet available for sale which I think was a Sagrantino.  I hope I remembered all of them correctly.  I was super wobbly by the end of the night.  Hahaha.  I encourage you to join their wine club or order a few bottles to try.  You will NOT be disappointed.  His wines make me want to sit out in the open air on a nice 75 degree day with a book and just ignore the world.

Here is Nello himself along with his beautiful daughter and her husband.  Thanks for showing us a fabulous time and sharing your amazing wines!  I will be placing a large order very soon!
