UG style series

Hi everyone!  So I wanted to let you know about these fun events that Underground Chicago hosts on Thursdays for about a month.  It's called the Underground Style Series.  They invite a bunch of people to come and enjoy some cocktails and watch a fun fashion show.  Each week has a theme and last Thursday was probably one of my favorites!  It was Chicago people themed.  Meaning that the models weren't models at all.  They are some of the great people that do great things here in the city of Chicago.  Some own very successful businesses, some have successful websites, and ALL are super fabulous people that know how to have a good time and strut their stuff.  After the show, the party continued with some good ol' fashion busting a groove.  It was a fully packed house so space got very tight.  Thank goodness we had a section and arrived early.  The show for this week will feature items from TopShop and TopMan.  If you are from Chicago, then you know they opened up a storefront on Michigan Avenue this past year.  Hoorah!  Definitely going to try to make it out for that one.  TopShop is TopNotch!  =)  For information on the particular night that I am sharing, please click HERE.

Clearly, I was the only one prepared for this photo.  I wonder what Grace finds so appalling.

DOS and her party shoes.  Love Ash's Blue peep toes too!

Literally in an ocean of people!  Thanks Deanna for saving us a section and a table!  You are #TotesAmaze!

LET THE SHOW BEGIN!

FIFI AT THE ZOO

Hi all, Happy Friday!!  I hope you have had a great week.  This past Tuesday was my last day at my job and I gave myself a week and a half break until I start my new one.  Might I say, I am LOVING this feeling.  No stress, no worries, just carefree and bliss.  Although I am still waking up early in the morning because I've been hard wired to do so from my 9-5, I love being able to run my errands without feeling rushed or having to worry about when to get things done.  Yesterday I went grocery shopping at Trader Joes and bought myself flowers.  Note to my guy readers, go get your girl some flowers.  It's only $3.99 at Trader Joes man!  Since I had no rush to do anything, I spent about an hour arranging my flowers in vases.  It was hard but also very calming.  And I thought to myself, is this what people who don't have to work do, and is this how they feel?  Man it's nice!  Hahahahaha...  I even put a ribbon around the vase.  Then I stood there admiring my work and posting it on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.  LOL.

I also went out and bought a paper shredder.  Identity theft is no joke guys!  I always rip up my mail.  I was doing it by hand for so long that I decided it was time to get a shredder.  So I drove myself to Best Buy and got a top of the line shredder.  It can even shred credit cards and CDs.  Even though I'm way to scared to stick a CD in it, knowing it can is still pretty cool.  Then I went back home and proceeded to shred anything I could find.  Relishing in the grinding sounds of the machine.  MUAHAHAHA!

I've also been enjoying going out pretty much every night since last week.  LOL.  In my head, my vaycay started last Friday.  I got to see some friends I haven't seen in some time and catch up on their lives.  I had a super fun sangria day with my HJ and Gracey at my place and had a great Thursday night at Underground.  My hair has also received a lot of TLC these past few days.  I got my highlights refreshed at Charles Ifergan Salons by my colorist Sam, which was highly overdue since my roots were halfway down my head.  She always does a consistently great job and I never really have to explain anything.  I also got a Kérastase conditioning treatment and a trim at J. Gordon Designs in Lincoln Park.  Thanks to an awesome Groupon, I got a great deal and now my hair is smooth and shiny.  I keep doing that hair swish thing us girls do after a great cut and blow dry.  I'm also the type of person that doesn't mind trying new places for hair.  I don't really freak out if it doesn't turn out exactly right.  However, Sylvia DID get it exactly right.  I didn't want too much taken off and she definitely knew how to just trim the ends and preserve my length.  I highly recommend her if you are in the area.  =)

So this day in the photos, was actually last weekend.  My fam and I went to Lincoln Park Zoo.  It's a little sad that I have lived so close to it for two years and this was my first time ever going.  What's even sadder is that it's a free zoo and I never took advantage of that.  It was definitely cool to see the animals up close like that but a part of me gets really depressed for them.  I'm sure they are there for a good reason but behind cages and enclosures just makes me feel uneasy.  The zoo is, however, maintained beautifully year round and there are people there that educate you about the animals.  One in particular who was in the monkey building taught me something.  Do you know the difference between monkeys and apes?  If you do, then hoorah for you.  I, on the other hand, did not know.  So here you go.  DOS Fun Fact:  Monkeys have tails and apes do not.  Definitely makes you go "Ooooh... I seeeeeee!"  The zoo is fun and pretty and a great way to spend a nice day.  Props to Papa DOS on the photos.  <3  As you can see, my LV Fifi and I had a great time.  I kept it pretty casual with a loose sleeveless tee and jeans.  I was feeling kinda bummy that day.  Kept it fab with a tweed blazer from Zara though.  I love anything studded.  =)  Hope you enjoy the post!

KELLY GREEN AND PINK FOR EASTER

Hi everyone!  Happy Monday!  I hope you all had a great Easter weekend!  Mine was pretty awesome.  I got to relax a little, see my darling Gracey who is visiting from New York, and hang out with my fam bam on Easter Sunday.  Things have been very hectic since I am trying to do way too many things at once.  Which is usually how my life is in general.  So thanks for being patient with the posts.  I hope you enjoy this one.  I love my kelly green dress!  I feel like this color is so vibrant and amazing but it is a little hard to find a dress you like in this color.  Lucky for me, I found this gem last year and it has been a welcome color addition to my overflowing closet.  It was a little windy this day so I was definitely glad I brought this oversized sweater/throw with me.  I paired the kelly green dress with my bright pink Chanel which complemented my new pink Chanel sunnies.  I really wanted a fun color for my summer sunnies and fell in love with the pink tones.  Papa DOS was with me so we decided to check out these cool leg statues that I've been wanting to get a closer look at on Michigan Avenue. These are close to Grant Park and I always drive past them thinking that they look so cool and wonderfully weird.  Thanks to Papa DOS for snapping the photos for me.  I have my last two days coming up at my current job then I have a week and a half of complete freedom.  I have already jam packed my schedule and am trying to get a trip out to LA in there somewhere.  Cross your fingers that the ticket prices go back down so I can give myself a mini LA adventure.  I also pulled the trigger on the PS1.  Are you all wondering what color I got?  Don't worry!  I'll show you soon.  The Hubster actually helped me finalize the decision along with a few very perceptive readers.  =)  Enjoy the post and leave me comments to read!  =D  And follow me on Instagram if you want a more constant flow of photos from me.  I pretty much post on Instagram every day.  LOL!  And I welcome all the Android users that are able to download the app now.  Yay!  The Hubster was ooooooober excited about this.  My handle for Instagram is drunkonshoes.  Shocking.  Hugs and kisses to you all!

Wednesday Wishlist 4/4/12

Okay so this isn't really a real Wednesday Wishlist.  But I have had this on my "personal" wishlist for about 2 years so it's kinda special for me.  However, I need some help and opinion on colors.  =)  As the 2 years passed, the color options got bigger and bigger.  Eeks!  And with more color options, the decision gets harder and harder.  I really want to start my new job with a new bag.  I wanted something that is perfect for commuting to work.  The Proenza Schouler PS1 in large definitely fits that criteria.  I guess you could call this a self reward.  My dad would say I reward myself too much.  But this is a special occasion and I worked really hard to make it happen so HA!  Hehehehe... I am loving all three of these colors.  I guess the real WISHLIST would be to have all three.  LOL!  Would LOVE to hear your thoughts on what I should pull the trigger on.

UPDATE - Remember, I have a RED Louis Vuitton Pont Neuf (named Fifi)

a wedding brunch

Hi everyone!  I hope you all had a fun weekend!  This past weekend I was at a lovely wedding brunch for a fun couple, V+M.  You may remember them from a previous post where I did some engagement shots.  They had their wedding in Costa Rica then decided to have a special brunch for all those who could not make it to the Costa Rican shindig.  Gotta love a reason to have a midday cocktail.  I kept things simple with a tiered nude dress and a black cropped blazer.  It was cute seeing some of their photos from their actual wedding day and to hear some of the stories.  Was still feeling a little under the weather this day but it didn't stop me from having three glasses of wine.  =)  And of course the food was yummy!  Maggiano's never disappoints.  Congrats you two crazy love birds!

This month has been cray so far!  My last few days at my current job are blowing by fast and I'm getting sadder to leave my favorite manager of all time!  I also have a week and a half break in between and got so lucky that two of my favorite gals are going to be in town!  =D  Gracey and Ash!  Wooty woot!  So I will definitely have people to play with on my time off.  Also thinking about cramming in a weekend trip somewhere but tickets are so pricey right now.  Boooooooooo... who knows, maybe I'll just close my eyes, point to a destination, and go!  =)
