Wednesday Wishlist 3/14/12

Wednesday Wishlist by *M+ish

So for the Wednesday Wishlist that I have been procrastinating on, I will start by saying that for those that know me, I love me anything White/Ivory.  It doesn’t matter what part the year it is or what it is, if there is a “white” version, that is the choice.  My husband and I have a unique relationship as most people who know us would know, but one thing that we both love are all things white/ivory as well as having the same favorite color, Pink.  So in addition to my white-affair, all embellishments that are Pink are a definite must.  Jewelry and accessories are where I love to indulge, with rose gold, diamonds, and fine timepieces.  Haha, so with that said, I felt it would be fitting for my first WW for DOS that I do a quick tribute to my staple White/Ivory & Pink Palette that not only shows off my taste, but also stays true to what I love, which DOS can attest to… Bigger is always Better and whatever it is, you always have to make a statement.

Whenever I am getting ready to style anything, I start with the handbag.  Though I love both shoes and bags, I always choose my bag first.  So as this is called the Wednesday Wishlist, I decided to put items I would WISH FOR, hence the Hermes 40mm Pink Birkin with Gold Hardware. Though I would prefer Rose Gold Hardware of course, a little mix of yellow and even white for the trifecta of the golds is always beautiful!  As the entire outfit is showcased around ivory, subtle pops of color can be seen from within the same color palette from the accessories.  The variety of textures from satin, to leather, to silk chiffon, provide a youthful exuberance that show how you can be monochromatic but still pull off the ensemble with that unique flare.  The Balmain leather pants with gold detail are one of the hottest pieces to hit the runway from the SS12 collections.  The simple chiffon top, worn with the satin/cotton blazer complement the edginess of the pants with gentle femininity yet still enough oompf for anyone to see that you are a woman that knows that she’s doing.  The shoes are and will always be the stopper as Mr. Louboutin never fails to disappoint.  These shoes, yes, may be not quite the “everyday” shoe but to rock those babies on your feet would cheer up any gloomy day.  One thing to note, the higher the shoe, the better!  DOS would definitely agree… add that Swarovski crystal love and you have a WINNER, though the price definitely kills us all.  But it’s a wishlist and should it ever go on sale, ladies, you all know you would definitely do a double if not triple take and think about whether you’d pay your rent or just indulge yourself... Strass Loubs on Sale?  Danger Zone.

The accessories I chose are all-timeless and can be worn day or night.  Classic diamond hoops will always jazz up an outfit (and my personal style of earring pref) with added sophistication and exudes that subtle sexiness we all look to achieve.  The timepiece is classic and an area I have a love for.  A Rolex will be the investment and staple piece you will be able to pass down to your kids and a piece that you will continuously love no matter what age you are.  Finally, the Cartier Panthére Ring brings the ensemble together as a finishing touch.  It’s fun, dramatic, and quite frankly, that “LBD” equivalent in your jewelry armoir.  This outfit, though a bit odd and overstated, might not be for all, truly exudes what I would want as a Wishlist, or as DOS referred to it, a “in my dreams” list, ensemble to describe me and my personal taste and style.  Thanks DOS for the opportunity!  #TotesAmaze!  #InMyDreams

Cheers to DOS and WW,
…… bigger is always better …..

Give yourself an "internet" name
*M+ish. : it incorporates my nickname as well as a saying my husband and I are known to say
Describe your style
My style: Bigger is Always Better. My style has always been a little odd but always stands-out.  Maybe never understood at first glance but one that becomes understood.
What are your favorite pair of shoes?
This is a trick question hahaha.  Favorite shoes are anything that have a SUPER HIGH HEEL with a platform.  But I do love sneakers too with my favorite being my Jordan Retro 1 High – Icy Pink.
What are your must have items for this season?
Large multi-functional Purse, chunky eternity scarf, lightweight cardigan (layers), Kiehls Hand Salve & #1 Lip Balm
What is something you always carry around in your purse that is non-typical?
3 pairs of socks: White Ankle, Black Ankle, & knee high tights (nude): I have to keep my feet warm & dry, can’t really do the flats (not that I own more than 2 pairs of flats) with bare feet or heels with bare feet.  When my feet are cold my entire body gets SUPER cold so gotta stay prepared.  The colors?  I keep a pair of sneaks in the car just in case. Never know when you need to change.
If you could buy one thing fashion related with no budget, what would it be?
Have you seen my Wednesday Wishlist???  But… Custom Diamond White Bentley Flying Spur.  Cars are PART of fashion hahahah right?  Accessorize!
Do you love DOS and why? (haha)
Yes, of course!  Haha, wouldn’t have done this if I didn’t.  But love DOS because she has always been able to see the positive side of things, real talk.  Also, I haven’t met anyone else who shares the same affinity in high-high heeled shoes as her.

Thanks to *M+ish for the highest price tagged Wednesday Wishlist to date.  Hahaha...  True to form, the entire outfit is super fab and over the top.  I definitely love the play of textures in the all white outfit.  Just be careful where you sit or lean or rub up against in this one ladies.  Like I told her, it's a "in my dreams" list. Hehehe... Oh, hang on... I think I can get that tank top.  LOL.  Thanks doll for being my "featured fashionista" for this week.  Everything is definitely a show stopper in its own right.  And anyone who can afford to rock this outfit will definitely stop a show... and probably traffic... and should probably have a bodyguard.  It sure would be hard to run from a thief in those Loubs.  =)  Leave *M+ish some comments and let her know what you think of her ensemble!  <3

OMGeeeeeeee!  The weather was so nice on Sunday!  The Hubster and I decided to take our baby Wrigley out for a walk around Belmont harbor.  There were so many other doggies, he was going cray!  It was so cute seeing him so happy and galloping around.  We took the opportunity to get in some fun shots.  The Hubster is getting so much better behind the camera right?!  So proud of him!  =)

I'm wearing some super wide and super fun jeans today from Free People.  These are so fun to lounge around in but also fun to walk around in.  They swish like a skirt because they are so big but also the denim is very soft.  I had to cut about an inch off of the bottom which was really scary.  The original hem was a frayed hem so I didn't feel like I needed to take it in to get shortened.  Taking a pair of scissors to something is really scary for me.  Probably because anything DIY that I do, I tend to rush through it so it never turns out quite right.  Lucky for me, these are one of those things that it's really hard to tell if I messed it up.  Hahaha...  Also loving my Karl by Karl Lagerfeld tee.  I thought the graphic of him was so cute.  The tee is really really soft and airy.  I'll def be wearing this a lot on my lazy days this summer.  I hope you enjoy the photos and give EXTRA SUPER WIDE jeans a try.  Hehehe... =)

Wrigley says "arf arf ruff ruff grrrrrruff!" meaning... thanks for reading mommy's blog!

Hi everyone!  I hope you all had a guh-reat weekend!  As for me, I think I found my favorite spring color palette.  I am loving this minty pastel green top that I got at H&M for... guess what... $13!  A-woo-hoo!  It's a sleeveless collared button down top which makes it totally perfect for spring.  And it goes so well with my new Serenity necklace from Stella & Dot.  I love the chunky stones and colors.  It makes me think of the ocean and sunny spring days.  Spring seems to be coming up pretty fast here in Chicago.  We are expecting mid 60 temperatures all next week and I'm super excited!  This day was still a bit chilly so I had to throw on this light jacket that I wore on my previous NY post.  I was definitely enjoying the sunshine.  It instantly puts me in a good mood, even if it's really cold.

This past Friday night, City Blue had a launch party for their online shop.  Since it's so hard for me to get out and about to shop because of work and just overall busy schedules, I mostly shop online.  I'm excited that now I can peruse the stock at City Blue on their website.  Please visit them at shopcityblue.com.  They have this super cute green Joie top at the store that I'm keeping my eye on!  I hope it shows up on the website soon... wink wink!  I wore this outfit to the launch party, except swapped out the white flares with dark blue flares.  Which just goes to show that a pastel top can work for both day and night.  =)  It was definitely a fun party and I want to thank City Blue for the invite and for letting me bring some guests!  I wanna give a shout out to my loves The Hubster, Trace Face, Miss Sue, and BeeBoy for coming out with me.  The night led us to many adventures with stops at Social 25, Privet (hey Jenny Penny!) and that ended in Chinatown's 7 Treasures.  Kickin' it old school FO SHO!  <3

I encourage you all to add some color in your wardrobe for spring.  A few key pieces to have are white flares and a pastel colored blouse.  Each can add a fresh change to any other piece you already have in your wardrobe.  If you are anything like me, I look at my closet after the cold season and all I see is dark neutrals.  Pops of color are the best way to stand out.  And of course top it all off with some statement jewelry.

So my baby sister is out and about prom dress shopping and of course it got me wishing I was back in high school with some sort of dance to go to.  I miss those days.  Girls getting corsages, guys getting boutonnieres, getting dressed up and dolled up, and no one in the room is getting married.  LOL!  Wasn't it so fun!?  Feeling so cool getting a limo with your friends.  Begging the parental units to let you stay out until the next day.  Booking a hotel room for the after party.  Watching the sun come up because that's just what young people can do!  And of course the dress shopping... lets not forget the dress shopping.  So of course my 18 year old sister is looking for some super corset-y, bejeweled, long figure hugging dress when all I really want her to wear is something elegant and romantic.  Now I finally know what my mom was mumbling about while I was in the dressing room.  Needless to say, it got me perusing for dresses and I couldn't help but stop at this Marchesa Notte dress.  It's so darling!  Okay, I suppose it's not really appropriate for an 18 year old going to prom, but it's totally appropriate for her older sister who might want to chaperone.  Right?  Right?  I kinda still look like I can be in high school.  And I can boogie battle any little 18 year old who dares step to me!

So I guess that's how I got to this Wednesday Wishlist.  It started with me looking for dresses for my sister, and ended up with me creating an outfit for myself.  I'm the BEST big sister ever!  This Marchesa dress has probably one of my absolute FAVORITE color combinations.  Blush and Black.  There is something so timeless about the combination of the two and I am immediately drawn to it.  The soft layers and ruffles with the bow in the front is just so sweet.  Sometimes you don't want to be so out there with the skin tight bandage dresses.  Yes they are fun, but there is also something to be said about just playing with softness and looking flowy and airy.  The accessories add just the right bit of punch without being too overpowering to take away from the dress itself.  This Rodo clutch has some fun crystals that will shoot out some sparkle when the disco ball lights hit it.  LoL!  The Emilio Pucci cuff can be for both a dressed up outfit such as this or a casual one with jeans.  And of course, vintage Chanel earrings.  You can never go wrong with vintage Chanel.  Let's not forget these amazing Jimmy Choo shoes.  Black suede with gold trim?  Ummmm... YES PLEASE!  Hmmm... I wonder if anyone will notice if The Hubster and I crash her prom.  Who wants in?!

Here is an outfit post for you all to start the week!  Last week was a pretty rough one and I'm glad that it's over.  Here's hoping that this week will be much better!  I love this military style jacket from Zara I got last year.  It's perfect on days that are just a bit chilly but not freezing.  I was also wearing a top I got from CityBlue by Joie but it was too cold to take off the jacket and show you guys.  So I'll definitely show it off another day.  These Miu Miu's are one of my favorites from my shoe collection.  They are a darker nude color which I love because it can go with so many things and they are super tall which makes me feel super tall.  Also, they look uncomfortable but are actually really comfy to walk in.  I am trying to think of something clever to say or something cool to share but I am blanking.  Yikes!  Mah badddd.  Enjoy the photos everyone since I have nothing interesting to say.  Hahahaha...  Do you have any fun stories to share?  I'd love to hear it.  This is going to be a busy week and I've got some tax returns to do.  I hope everyone is getting a refund this year.  #TaxNerd #TotesRandom

happy birthday chicago!

Hey y'all!  Did everyone have a fun weekend?!  Mine was pretty fun.  Chicago turned 175 this past weekend and might I say, she is lookin' pretty good for her age.  Hehehe...  The Hubster and I went to Rockit Bar and Grill for a party in Chicago's honor and also for a good cause.  Gotta love it when parties mix with philanthropy.  I bought myself a Rockit mug to support the Greater Chicago Food Depository and it has become a fun new addition to my cluttered home work desk and is now holding my pens and pencils and random nicknacks.  Thanks to Mr. Billy Dec and the RockitRanch team for putting together an event to support a great cause.  It was a super fun night filled with local Chicago talent performances.  This particular night was also the first time I got recognized by a reader.  I kinda froze for a second and got oober nervous.  LoL!  Thanks Suzanne for totally making my night at the coat check line.  <3  I hope I run into more of my readers in the near future!
