Wednesday Wishlist 3/7/12

So my baby sister is out and about prom dress shopping and of course it got me wishing I was back in high school with some sort of dance to go to.  I miss those days.  Girls getting corsages, guys getting boutonnieres, getting dressed up and dolled up, and no one in the room is getting married.  LOL!  Wasn't it so fun!?  Feeling so cool getting a limo with your friends.  Begging the parental units to let you stay out until the next day.  Booking a hotel room for the after party.  Watching the sun come up because that's just what young people can do!  And of course the dress shopping... lets not forget the dress shopping.  So of course my 18 year old sister is looking for some super corset-y, bejeweled, long figure hugging dress when all I really want her to wear is something elegant and romantic.  Now I finally know what my mom was mumbling about while I was in the dressing room.  Needless to say, it got me perusing for dresses and I couldn't help but stop at this Marchesa Notte dress.  It's so darling!  Okay, I suppose it's not really appropriate for an 18 year old going to prom, but it's totally appropriate for her older sister who might want to chaperone.  Right?  Right?  I kinda still look like I can be in high school.  And I can boogie battle any little 18 year old who dares step to me!

So I guess that's how I got to this Wednesday Wishlist.  It started with me looking for dresses for my sister, and ended up with me creating an outfit for myself.  I'm the BEST big sister ever!  This Marchesa dress has probably one of my absolute FAVORITE color combinations.  Blush and Black.  There is something so timeless about the combination of the two and I am immediately drawn to it.  The soft layers and ruffles with the bow in the front is just so sweet.  Sometimes you don't want to be so out there with the skin tight bandage dresses.  Yes they are fun, but there is also something to be said about just playing with softness and looking flowy and airy.  The accessories add just the right bit of punch without being too overpowering to take away from the dress itself.  This Rodo clutch has some fun crystals that will shoot out some sparkle when the disco ball lights hit it.  LoL!  The Emilio Pucci cuff can be for both a dressed up outfit such as this or a casual one with jeans.  And of course, vintage Chanel earrings.  You can never go wrong with vintage Chanel.  Let's not forget these amazing Jimmy Choo shoes.  Black suede with gold trim?  Ummmm... YES PLEASE!  Hmmm... I wonder if anyone will notice if The Hubster and I crash her prom.  Who wants in?!
