A BLUSTERY DAY

Happy Monday to all!  I hope everyone had a fab weekend.  I spent this weekend spending time with The Hubster, the pupper, and my fam.  I also got my hair touched up since my roots were getting a little long.  Not too much excitement.  Felt good to take a break from the night life.  Even though I had multiple living room dance parties throughout the weekend.  Guestlist of 2:  Wrigley and myself.

These shots were taken on Sunday when we had the most amazing November weather.  It felt like it was about 70 degrees when you were under the sun.  I didn't think I'd be wearing shorts in November, that's fo sho.  But of course Chicago can't make it 100% perfect.  Along with the unseasonably warm temperatures, it was crazy windy.  But having experience Chicago winds, it really wasn't THAT bad.  We took the puppers out for a stroll around our hood.  We stopped to get some coffee at Intelligentsia and checked out some hats at Goorin Bros. Hat Shop on Broadway.  Wrigley had so much fun on his walk and met some other doggies along the way.  Wrigley has the worst doggie manners and gets his nose all up around other doggies' butts and junk.  So embarrassing but hilare at the same time.  We are bad parents and don't take him out for long walks as much as we should so we can only really blame ourselves.

I was reppin' the Bulls this day.  Basketball is about the only sport I can tolerate watching.  And of course I am a Bulls fan and also part of the D-Rose bandwagon.  Woot!  Although I have no idea what's going on in basketball right now since The Hubs is busy with his football.  =P

BTW, thanks to everyone who commented and checked out the first post of my Le Dinner series.  More to come soon!  And feel free to leave me recipes to try!  Maybe it will end up on the series.  Please note that I do not bake.  My utter disregard in measuring things out makes me a horrid baker so I don't even try.  I eyeball everything and get mad when it doesn't come out perfect.  I think the only thing I can successfully do is banana nut bread.  So maybe you will see that one on the blog.

OLD TOWN ART FAIR

Hi there!  I hope you all had a great weekend.  I know I did.  =)  I feel like summer is in full effect here in Chicago and it's mostly because all the Chicago festivals have been starting.  Chicago street fests are one of the reasons I love this city.  It's a great way to explore the different neighborhoods and mingle with it's locals.  Also something specific is always celebrated and highlighted.  On Saturday, The Hubster and I went to the Old Town Art Fair.  The art fair has been going on for a few years and celebrates artists of all kinds.  Painters, photographers, jewelry makers, potters, and even those who can create works of art using embroidery techniques are present.  They are not all necessarily from Chicago as the art fair is open for all artists.  This year was the first year that we went and my mind was blown at all the creativity and beautiful pieces that lined the streets.  I will definitely be back next year.

CASUAL UNIFORM

It's gorgeous weather in Chicago!  Which means it's time to lotion up those ashy knees we have been hiding in our winter gear and bust out the short shorts.  =)  Hehehehe... On days that it teeters from a cool breeze and heat from the sunshine, I like to wear a loose slight open weave sweater with some simple denim shorts.  This sweater is so comfy and the open weave lets the breeze come through so I am not too warm.  It also comes in an electric yellow which I am thinking I also need in my closet.  Hehehe... I am definitely loving the sunshine we have been having.  I am instantly in a better mood.  I hope you all are having a great week.  It's almost the weekend and I've got a dinner with the girls to look forward to.  We are celebrating a birthday for my darling Jane!  Happy early birthday my love.  I can't wait to see my ladies!  Girls night out is a must to keep me sane.  By the way, what do you guys think of my new oversized envelope clutch?  I got two colors in this since it was such a great deal.  It's only $36 from Asos!  I got this lovely neutral color and a bold neon yellow color.  I adore the gold tab corner detail.  It comes a little stiff but will soften over time and use.  Definitely a fun accessory to have.  And let's not forget to mention my new kicks.  =D  I could not resist these B Brian Atwood Teatro sandals  (brown version here).  Perfect for spring/summer!  It took me a while to decide if I wanted brown versus gray.  Luckily my size makes these decisions for me since I couldn't find my size in the brown.  LOL.  <3

neon pink is the new dark denim

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr... Happy Monday everyone!  So we finally had our first legit snowfall here in Chicago and with it came the cold cold cold temperatures.  Remember just how earlier last week it was in the fifties?  Gotta love that Chi-town weather change.  I must say, it is extremely hard to look cute in freezing cold weather with slushy snow everywhere, and especially being short, it's hard to bust out the platforms in this kind of terrain.  But leave it to DOS to give it her best shot.  I am sporting some hot neon pink skinnies for the first time.  I got them a while ago but as all corporate America peeps can attest to this, it's rare to have an opportunity to wear jeans since I'm always in work attire most of the week.  I have so many jeans I have yet to break in.  I am currently in a state of obsession with neon colors so I am definitely enjoying the huge punch of color.  I am in serious need to find some cute winter boots though.  My poor Uggs have been through a couple winters with me now and are starting to fall apart.  You will have to excuse the lack luster background of the Chinatown parking lot in these pics.  Hahaha... I was with my fam bam going for dim sum and my awesome pops took these shots in the parking lot.  It's always nice to have a good photog in the family.  =)  Thanks dada.

I am also rocking my new Mackage puffer that I got on sale from Aritzia.  It's pretty warm and I am loving the inset vest zipper option.  Downside is that it doesn't have a hood.  But no worries, I've got it covered with my awesome fuzzy pom pom hat/hood from GAP.  Remember these from my old post "fuzzy balls"?  It definitely adds a fun twist to my winter gear.  I don't know about you, but as long as my head is warm, the rest of me feels pretty toasty too.

This was definitely a fun day for DOS.  My dada is turning the big 5-0 in a couple of days or as I like to call it "Filthy Fifty".  I surprised him with a Chicago Gangster Tour by Weird Chicago.  So after Dim Sum, we loaded into a tour bus and got to hear about some Chicago history.  Mostly the life of the infamous Al Capone.  It was so cool to hear all the things that happened in Chicago back in the roaring twenties when Chi-Town was full of crime and was just straight grimy and dangerous.  Gun shots, murders, and organized crime.  How cool!  The south loop has so much history and this little piece of Coliseum Park is one of the only things that are left from that era.  Lots of naughty things went on around here.  If you are in Chicago and need something to do and want to learn some interesting history, definitely look up Weird Chicago.  They have a few different tours you can try out.  The tour also stops at a bar so you can have a midday cocktail.  =)  I always find it so fun to do tours of your own city.  I've lived here for years and know nothing about Chicago history.  I had no idea that Chicago was so crazy back in the day.  It totally made me want to be a gangster and have a cool name like "Machine Gun" Jack McGurn.  Maybe I could be "Deadly Daggers DOS" also known as "Triple D" and my weapons of choice are my daggers of death.  Admit it, you'd be scared of me.  I wonder if the Mafia is hiring.  LOL! "Hell on Heels" would be another one I could roll with.  And the last thing you would hear before your gruesome death would be the click clack of my stilettos.  MUAHAHA!  Pray you never cross me.  RAWR!
