Hi everyone! Sorry for the long break! As you know I was off on a mini vaycay with The Hubster and some friends. We were up in the mountains at Vail, Colorado and had a fantastic time! However, I brought back a cold and was feeling pretty icky for the past week. I'm finally feeling better and I thought I'd share with you bits and pieces of my trip. If you follow me on Instagram, you've probably seen most of these. I wish I was good enough to bring an SLR up on the mountains with no fear of falling on it. Sadly, I still suck. Anyhoo, enjoy!
Just a little something to hold you over until I'm back from Vail. Subscribe or else I'll..... ummm... just subscribe. Oh and leave me fun comments to read while I'm at the airport.
Hey there. Look who got bangs again. I don't really know why I did it since I had no plans on getting bangs whatsoever. I guess I was just bored after work on a Monday. So here I am, rocking bangs again. It's always a hard transition to get used to. I'm still deciding if it was a good idea or not. Hahaha. It's also a weird sensation to have hair on your forehead and floating above your eyeline all the time. Oh well. Rocking a casual look to celebrate Papa DOS' birthday. I got us all tickets to a show at The Second City. It was such a funny show and I highly recommend it! The show we watched was called "Best of the Second City" and it was HILARE! If you have never checked it out, please do! It's the perfect way to celebrate a birthday and my dad had a great time.
I'll be leaving for Vail on Friday and I'm supes excited! Even though I haven't had time to really think about it and I have still yet to pack, it's starting to sink in. There has been no real snowfall here in Chicago so I haven't had the chance to hit the slopes and board so I'm really looking forward to getting out on a mountain and launching myself down it. Hahaha. I hope I come back in one piece!
The temperatures are plummeting! It is flippin' cold in Chicago right now. We were having such great weather and one day was even close to 50s but now I feel like this is Chicago. It just sucks when it flips like that so quickly! And what comes with it is a bunch of sick people. Everyone has/had the flu! It seems that The Hubster and I have avoided it this season but then again, I could just be jinxing it now. I have been trying so hard to avoid anyone with some sort of cold/flu symptom. I even considered wearing a mask at work. I hope everyone is finally getting better and not spreading their nastiness.
This particular Sunday was spent having a "Ladies Brunch" at The Bristol. Well.... "Ladies Brunch" plus The Hubster. For some reason he likes to come to these things but then he didn't even talk to us. So weird. Though I did appreciate him taking photos for me. =) My full review on The Bristol brunch will be up at some point this week. I'm hoping to be able to put together a video but there was so much background noise because it was pretty poppin' during brunch time. Trying to figure out how to edit the footage. We had such a fun time during brunch. I love brunching with my girls. Our conversation this day definitely was off the wall.
I went with oversized everything for brunch. Starting with my oversized sweater from the Margiela x H&M collabo which is oh-so-soft. I hope everyone was able to snag a little something from that collection. This one was definitely one of my favorites. The sleeves are bonkers long which gives it a cool look but also makes it super hard to maneuver around when you need to use your hands. And with a sweater this big, you can't just wear any coat so I quickly pulled out my fave piece from Calvin Tran. I love how I can just trow this on and the closure is a big ass gold safety pin. Not the warmest coat but def looks great. =) Topped my oversized theme with my oversized Antigona. This is actually the medium but since I'm travel sized, it looks oversized on me. Yay! Hope you enjoy the pics. Will try to put up more outfits soon.
I also found out this day that my heel on my boots are stingray. I had no idea stingray looks and feels like crystals. I kind of still half don't believe Sue and Grace. But they swear it is. I don't know how I feel about having stingray on my foot. Poor little guy. =( How do you guys feel about it?

I promised a video to you guys answering questions right? Well, here's what I got so far. Why did it sound so easy in my head when I thought of it? I hope you all enjoy this little clip. And if you don't, then SHUSH your face! Believe it or not, this took me some time to put together. Even the bleeps were not that easy. #isuckatthis #PLEASESUBSCRIBE
First outfit post in the new year! Whee! Hello 2013! It's been bonkers cold in Chicago lately but minus any real snowfall. I guess it's good because my shoes are safe without the gross black slush and salt combo that's usually all over the streets. Usually the killer around here is the wind chill but luckily this day the wind was calm so I was able to handle the mid thirty degree temps... of course with the help of my CFAN Adele beanie and Helena Quinn Carolyn coat. It's kinda bonkers that I haven't done a legit shoot with this coat since I wore it a ton in the fall and early winter months. #bloggerfauxpas No joke, this coat instantly makes your outfit amazing. It doesn't even really matter what you wear underneath it.
And I am totes smitten kitten with this new Wilfred dress I snaggie snagged from Aritzia's big sale. It's so soft and helloooooooo... side leg slit action... haaayyyyyy giiiirrrllllll... I friggin' love Aritzia! Shout out to Angie and Nikki! Every year after Christmas, my sisteer and I go and rampage the store in Water Tower Place. We wait to get the big daddy fitting room and just play dress up. We tell each other how cute we are, edit our picks, and just have sister bonding time. Definitely one of my all time favorite traditions. (Thanks to Papa DOS) Now that Aritzia has an online store, I was able to put together a plan of attack before I got there. I sent my girl Nikki the items I wanted to try and they had them pulled for me. Now that is some amazeypants service. Nam sayin'?
Busted out my thigh highs again. You know what that means. Yep, didn't shave mah legs. Woot!

In an attempt to keep my girly-ish figure, I often stray away from indulging in things like burgers and fries. (most of the time I fail at this effort) However, when Rockit emailed me with an opportunity to try a new LEAN burger they are releasing for a limited time, I knew I had to try it. It truly lives up to it's name "Lean & Mean". Everything about it seemed right up my alley because as the majority of the population does, NYE resolution #1 is "eat healthy". Wheat bun, lean bison meat instead of beef, fresh kimchi apple slaw on top, side salad instead of fries... you had me at wheat bun yo. Chef Amanda Downing and team figured this would be a great burger to start off 2013 with since everyone is trying to eat healthy after binge eating from the holidays. And yes, it is a great burger. I'm one of those people that takes any burger and lathers it with ketchup and mustard because I seem to think that's the only way it's going to be good. One bite and yea... Lean & Mean needed none o' that shizz.
So here's my take on the whole shibang. The burger itself is top notch. I wasn't quite sure what kimchi ginger apple combo would taste like. The cabbage used in this version of "kimchi" is not the traditional nappa cabbage and actually the flavors in this is not at all traditional Korean kimchi. You can taste the hint of that flavor but it's not meant to be exactly like kimchi. It's more sweet than the sour/spicy flavors I'm used to when eating kimchi. It compliments the burger really well in my opinion. The cabbage and the apples give the entire burger this crunch which I loved! I really enjoyed the crunch and mooshy combo in this creation. I appreciated that this burger wasn't 5 feet tall as well. I was able to mash it down with my hand so that I could cut it in half and be able to fit the bite in my mouth. I really don't like when burgers are so tall you can't get an entire bite with everything. The bison patty, which is what makes the burger "lean", is infused with little chunks of apple and red onion. UH.. YUM! So with all the apples in this bad boy, the overall flavor is sweet and tangy. The burger is not at all messy or greasy and I didn't feel gross and gluttonous when I left. I thoroughly appreciate that. Hahaha.
The side salad it came with was also really tasty. They used a sesame vinaigrette which is lightly coated on the greens. I really really REALLY enjoyed the salad. However, it did somewhat clash with the burger itself. Sesame oil, especially on top of the mixed field greens, was overall that amazing bitter flavor that I like in salads. But it did battle with the burger. I would definitely eat that salad on its own. Maybe with some miso glazed salmon or shrimp on top. Oh dang.. that sounds good. And hot diggity, it had frisée. Momma loooooooves her frisée! Anyway, back on topic. I suggest getting this burger with the curly fries like The Hubster did. One because curly fries are God's gift to the world, two, because the burger is healthy enough so that you can justify the curly fries, and three, because Rockit Burger Bar's curly fries are dank as hell.
And now, enjoy a feature presentation. LOL. Let me know if you guys enjoy this video, because that's probably the only thing that will motivate me to do another one. If anything you'll get to hear The Hubster's smooth vocals. You can just skip over mine. Ugh, hate listening to myself. Would it be weird if I just had The Hubster voice over for me? I think that'd be kind of awesome no?
The Lean & Mean Burger will only be available until January 13th! Go get it while it's around. Rockit Burger Bar is only open Thursdays-Sundays so plan ahead. Bring your lover, bring a group, bring the kids, bring a random co-worker, or hell, just bring yourself. It's perfect for lunch and you can hop on across and ice skate at Wrigley Field! Or skate first and feel like you've EARNED them curly fries! If that's not a fun weekend plan, I dunno what is! Oh, and have a whole pitcher of the white wine sangria. Just do it. Just do it. Just do it.
Side note: I know I promised my first YouTube video would be "13 for 2013", but hot damn it's hard to record yourself. I swear that it will still come. Just trying to get a handle on how to do this. GAH!
