BLACK AND BLEUTIGONA IN SAN FRAN CHINATOWN

I know what you are thinking.. damn this betch took a lot of photos in California.  Uh yea, I sure did.  I think there's prob two more sets of photos after this day.  Trust me, I am trying to get through them and be done with it.  I'm starting to forget the things I did.  LOL.  This was the day we trekked it over to Chinatown in San Fran.  I was seriously craving dim sum and I always try to hit up the different Chinatowns there are in the major cities.  I can't remember where we ended up eating but it was aiiiite.  Nothing mind blowing.  But dim sum is still yummy and I imagine would be pretty hard to mess up completely.  I will say this, attempting to walk the 5-6 blocks from our hotel, The Westin St. Francis in Union Square, to Chinatown in heels was by far the dumbest idea EVER!  I looked like a complete fool trying to shimmy downhill ever so slowly so I wouldn't trip forward and just completely face plant on the sidewalk.  I definitely felt like I had a big fat TOURIST BLOGGER sign across my forehead.  I don't know how these SF bloggers do it!  Anyhoozie... short post because I am feeling all the lazies so enjoy the photos.  Happy Friday you sexy nuggets!

THE SAN FRANCISCO TREAT

So it was gooooooooooodbye Sonoma and HELLOOOOOOOOOOO San Francisco!  It was a quick drive from Sonoma to reach the iconic and ginormous Golden Gate Bridge.  We were blessed with a sunny cloudless day so the bridge looked amazeballs.  Of course we HAD to exit and be touristy.  It would be silly of me to be in SF for the first time and not get that obligatory bridge photo.  The spot was so picturesque which is probably why there was a line to take a photo at this exact spot.  Hahaha.  Next time I go, I am going to have to rent a bike and bike down the bridge.  I saw a ton of people biking and it looks so fun!  I also heard there's a topless beach somewhere around there.  o___O  There's not much to say about this day except that we banged out as much touristy spots as we could.  Golden Gate Bridge, Painted Ladies, Fisherman's Wharf, and Union Square!  It's true what when they say SF teaches you how to layer.  It could be perfect under the sun then you turn a corner and it's about 15 degrees colder.  Also, wearing heels is about the most painful idea ever!  Uphill and downhill and uphill and downhill!  I don't think I found a two block stretch that was just one flat level.  Talk about leg workout!  If I move to SF, I am guaranteed to have a rock solid ass in a year I think.  Yet another motivation to move out west.

Here's a tourist vacation pro tip:  When you want a picture of you and your better half, scan the area and find the one guy with 4 DSLRs hanging off of his neck.  Ask HIM to take your picture.  Chances are, he knows what he's doing.  *Thumbs up*

Okay, the skirt does not pucker out like that normally.  I realized my alterations lady didn't do that great of a job on the lining.  Meaning, I have to find me a new alterations person.  Sigh.  Must haves in life:  mechanic, dry cleaners, house keeper, and tailor.  All so hard to find one that you trust.

In continuation of our super oober touristy day, we HAD to find the painted ladies!  Bring on all Full House reference quotes!  "How Rude!"  "Well pin a rose on your nose!"  "Have MERCYYY!" 

Checked into the hotel and quickly went off to Fisherman's Wharf after switching bags.  No lie, my Celine gives me so much anxiety.  And to be quite frank, it is a B*TCH to open and close.  Add that to the fact that it's white and it has quickly become one of my least favorite bags to use.  But GAWD is it oh so so pretty.  Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh.  

HANDS DOWN, I recommend the ANTIGONA.  Depending on ur needs, small or medium.  Put it on your Christmas list like NOW.  It's the best money I ever spent on 3 damn bags.  LOL.

BLUE POLKA DOTS WITH THE GIRL AND THE FIG

Greetings!!!  Omg I am so behind on my Cali posts!  I am writing this as I am having my last dinner here in Miami though this post will probably go up on Friday.  I pulled up my blog and went "oh crap!  I have to catch up!"  I can't wait to share with you my Miami adventure but I obvi have to finish telling you about my NorCal adventure first.  And there is so much to share!

This day was the day we explored Sonoma Square for the first time and also had our first taste of The Girl and The Fig.  We knew we had to check it out because we heard from so many people and locals that it is definitely a place to try.  So off we went with one of our favorite newlyweds, Peter and Ashley.  Without a reservation, we had to wait about an hour and a half for a table so what did we do? We went a couple doors down and had a wine tasting.  There's wine tasting everywhere you go!  The wines were only ooooohhhkaaaay which is probably why I can't remember what it was called.  But it did it's job.  With a pretty good buzz going, I dragged The Hubster out to the square for a little photoshoot in my blue polka dot dress. 

If you didn't know, one of my favorite online stores, ASOS, asked me to put together a few of my fall faves and this definitely made the list.  See the full list HERE.  My homegirl Mich sent me the link to this dress saying that it was totally my style and yep, it totes is!  It's no secret that I am currently obsessed with blues and the fact that the dress matched my baby Bleutigona was a huge plus.  I love how easy it is to wear and the whimsical nature of the details and its shape.  Ashley said I looked like a doll.  Haha.  The dress pairs amazing with a lot of my knee high boots, which by the way is one of my fall staples.  Knee high boots are my jam!!!  This pair by Ash is about 3 years old now but still one of my favorite pairs. So easy to slip on and a great comfortable height so I can last pretty long in them. 

Sonoma Square is sooooooo cute and it's a perfect place to bring a picnic basket and just sip on a bottle of wine... or two... or three, while enjoying the weather and watch tourists being tourist-y.  Or watch a random Asian girl twirling and posing.  Pro Tip:  I guess Sonoma Square is one of the few places where you can drink on public property and bring your own vino. #awesome #winning

Here comes that #foodporn.  I had the duck confit which is one of their signature dishes and it has every right to be.  The duck leg was amazing and juicy without being overly heavy or greasy.  I also had the arugula salad with figs which I LOVED but no one else really did.  Bitter greens is not for everyone I guess but for me it was perfect.  If you want to try out The Girl and The Fig, I suggest going for lunch.  The place is adorable and lively, and sitting out in their patio area feels amazing.  The service is spot on!  Our server was informative and bubbly and we all had a great time.  Try to bring a few people with you so that you can taste more of their amazing menu.  I had bites of everyone's dish and it all was so yummy!  I can't remember what it was all called but I definitely recommend a visit if you are in the Sonoma area.  The lunch price point is very reasonable and each dish in my opinion was worth it.  Highly highly recommend the duck confit and I will definitely go back the next time I am in Sonoma.

CAMO AND SWEATS IN SAN FRAN

Aaaaaaaaand she's back!  If you didn't know, I just came back from an amazing 9 day vacation in NorCal.  We spent 6 days in Sonoma and 3 days in San Francisco.  In Sonoma, we witnessed the beautiful wedding of HJ and Jimmers!  But more on that in a later post.  I will be posting quite a bit from this trip to take you guys through most of my days in Cali so excuse the lag as there are tons of pictures.  We arrived in SF the night of the 10th and luckily my amazing friend Sungdizzlehungryyyyyyyyyy was also in SF for work and let us crash at his hotel.  Meaning we got to meet some friends in SF for a few drinks and of course ended up at some korean bar/restaurant stuffing our faces right before we passed out.  Although I did start the party early on the flight in.  I mean $5 vodka sodas on the Southwest flights = wooo hoooooo!  I definitely did not waste any time starting my vacation.  I got myself pretty happy and toasty on that four and a half hour flight.  Thanks again to Sung for letting us crash!  Poor guy didn't even get to go to brunch with us the next day.  And my oh my did he miss a fantastic brunch.  Utilizing that yelp thang, I found us a place to have brunch.  Dotties.  It had like 2800 reviews and averaged to about 4.5 stars.  So of course that got me curious.  We got there and there was a line to get in.  Sucks to have to wait but it is usually a good sign of nyummies to come.  And we were soooooo NOT disappointed.  

Unfortunately the camera battery died right before the food came out so I guess you'll have to take my word for it that it looked glorious and tasted even better than it looked.  They have this chili/jalepeno cornbread with some sort of glaze you can spread on top that will change your life!  I'm not that easily impressed with food but I couldn't stop stealing bites off of the hubby's plate.  I'm definitely going back and ordering a whole plate of just the corn bread.  Their scrambles are amazing and have really interesting flavors.  I tried lamb sausage with goat cheese which was delish but weird at the same time.  Miss Sue had the Italian sausage scramble which was also very good.  And the hubby, well, the hubby's dish was amazing.  Smoked whiskey-fennel sausage, mushroom and baby spinach scramble with that grilled chili-cheddar corn bread and home fries.  ZOMG!  Nomanomnomnommy!  Overall a very successful stop in SF and a great start to our vacation.  Then it was off to Sonoma!  Which was a beautiful drive across the Golden Gate bridge and smooth sailing on the 101.  Woohoo!  More of #dostakesonsonoma to come!
