all tied up

Monday was my first day back in the office after being sick and working at home for a week.  I thought I should commemorate my return to the grind with a business-y outfit.  But you know I still had to have fun with it.  Luckily I found my super old tie.  Circa 1999.  I'm almost positive I bought this from Wet Seal back in high school when K-pop and FINKL inspired my style.  Yes I had those Sony headphones like Yuri and made myself those knee high leg covers.  Holla if you know what I mean!  LOL!!  It was pretty nostalgic and I had a little giggle this morning putting my old high school tie on.  But I think it works well don't you agree?  Do you guys have anything silly in your closet that you never got rid of because of the memories?  I'm sure we all have something.  I got quite a few compliments on my tie on the train in the morning and a few double takes.  Hehehe... Maybe I should go raid Blog Nazi's closet and shorten a bunch of his ties to wear.

I gotta be honest though.  I hate when it starts getting so cold that I have to wear multiple layers.  Yes as a fashionista, layering is fun and playful, and really puts an outfit together.  But goodness I hate having to take everything off when I get home.  It takes three times as long to get into my comfy house clothes and my laundry pile gets huge at a much faster rate.  Ugh, so bothersome sometimes.  Anyway, I hope you all had a great weekend!  I spent all Sunday rearranging the bedroom and putting up frames and decorating.  Now I just need a kick ass desk and new nightstands and I should be good, furniture-wise.  Home-owning really cuts into the wardrobe fund.  It's always, "New purse?  Or get hardwood floors for the bedroom?"  Too many things on my wish list.  Sigh.  I do plan to do a DIY project on my drawers to change them from a dark wood to white with some new hardware.  I always go through these spurts of home improvement projects.  Yea I'm one of those girls that has a box of tools.  =)  I'll definitely show you guys the progress when I get started.

Thanks for reading loves!

wiggin' out for halloween!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

I hope everyone had a fun and fab Halloween 2011 weekend!  As you can see, I was not so creative and was very last minute with my so-called costume.  I wasn't even sure if I was going out for Halloween this year.  I would say I was some sort of Japanime character.. or Bohemian Barbie?  This is what happens when you procrastinate and make no concrete plans.  Oh well, it was still fun, and as they say, Blondes have more fun!  At least the lamest one in the bunch was Blog Nazi who dressed up as himself.  OOOBER LAME!  We ended up going to Moe's Cantina in the River North area to celebrate with our friend Sue as part of her birthday week extravaganza!  Moe's Cantina is pretty huge!  But it still got crowded ridiculously fast.  I saw some pretty awesome costumes!  One of my favorites was this guy who was dressed up as a zombie from the Plants vs Zombies game and he had a Pea Shooter in his front pocket!  (If you don't know what Plants vs Zombies is, go on your phone and download the game and let me know a week from now how many hours of sleep you lost because you got addicted to playing it).  OMG it was so awesome and I was thoroughly amused.  I wish I had taken a picture of him!

We partied with two of my favs, HJ and Jimmers.  HJ was a hippie and Jimmers was a thug life prisoner.  Do you like his two gangsta tears?  They are so big so I guess he must have shot down some really big enemies.  LOL!  Jimmers got all up in the way of my picture in the right.  Party foul.

I friggin' love me some HJ.  Sometimes she has to be dragged out but when she's out she's a big ball of funsies.  We took a bunch of inappropriate pictures at Moe's.  Hahahaha.  Guys like to dress up like girls for Halloween apparently.  After Moe's, we did the traditional trip to 7 Treasures in Chinatown.  NOM NOM NOM!!  I haven't gone there after a night of partying in quite some time.  Very nostalgic.  I always end up with the same server. And it never fails that I order myself a plate of potstickers, ask if anyone wants any so I can order extra, they say no, and then when it comes out, everyone ends up eating them.  I should just always get two orders.  The potstickers at 7 Treasures are the bomb!!  Jimmers busted out some Mandarin to the server.  T'was pretty impressive.  We all stuffed our faces and then wanted to die from food coma right after.  Overall a perfect ending to a fun night.

UPDATED WITH SOME FUNNY PICS =)

My Sexxy Ladies!

Unfortunately, after such a fun filled Saturday night, I woke up super sick on Sunday.  =P  Total bummer.  But Blog Nazi took very good care of me and my puppers Wrigley laid with me and kept me company all day.  On top of being sick, my MacBook Pro is acting weird and won't turn on all the way.  GUH-REAT!  I apologize in advance for a slight lag on the posts as I recover from this cold and try to get my Pro fixed.  I hate having a sore throat.  My voice is switching back and forth from prepubescent little boy cracking voice to creepy raspy man voice.  Super sexy.

BY THE WAY... Did anyone else go to Oliver Peoples this past weekend for their Annual Sale?!  I went on the first day with my SOHO and we got ourselves some awesome sunnies for $119.  Marked down from $390!  I posted it on my facebook page (www.facebook.com/DrunkOnShoes) and also on Twitter to give everyone the heads up on the sale.  It was such an awesome sale!  I will do a special OP post so you guys can see what I got.  Woot!  If you don't want to miss any special sales or events like the OP one, like my page on FB and follow me on Twitter.  I always do an immediate post when I snag a great deal somewhere!  I will also post my additional Halloween pictures on the Drunk On Shoes Facebook page.  You are not going to want to miss those.  LOL.

Thanks for reading my loves!

why i miss high school

So my dad posted these pictures on Facebook and I just had to share with my readers.  LOL!  These are my darling little sister's friends.  Congrats guys!  You are now internet famous.  LOL!  I almost peed myself when I saw these.  It makes me miss high school so much!  Things were a lot simpler and funner back then.  And I swear the boys are a lot more willing to look like fools for fun.  This also makes me realize how lame I am because I have yet to find a costume and have put zero thought into it.  Crap.

I'm not quite sure what he is supposed to be.  Are you a caveman go go dancer?  Caveman gigolo?  Also, can I please have those fuzzy socks when you are done with them?!!  I think I can rock those in the winter.  Debs, make sure you jack those from him for me mkhay?

Happy Halloween everyone!  I hope you all have a great weekend!

Yikes, I want all of these.  Especially the hot pink bag.  Love the idea of going all neutral and going BAM! with a hot neon pink bag.  It is so delish!  Fighting the crazy urge to splurge on that.  This outfit can be done for the fall weather by adding some opaque tights.  Aren't those Fendis amazeballs?!  Ugh, is it Christmas yet?!  Hehehehe...

VAPIANO and FIFI

Saturday was a beautiful day!  I swear I have a love-hate relationship with the weather these days.  I left the house with full winter gear and it was epic fail.  But it was definitely a pleasant surprise.  Tek and I headed to lunch to one of my new favorite spots, VAPIANO!  It opened up a few weeks ago and I haven't been able to stop going there.  It's a simple Italian restaurant at heart but the way it works is pretty interesting.  If you have ever been to Food Life at the Water Tower Place, then you will know what I mean.  When you get in, you get greeted, handed a small menu and what looks like a credit card.  Then after that, the rest is up to you.  It is open seating and I like to pick a spot over on the right side which is a bit more lounge-y.  Then you walk up to the cooking stations and order direct from the chefs.  There are specific stations for Antipasti, Pizza, Pasta, Salads and Paninis.  When you get up to the chef, they ask you to scan your card then they type in your order and get to work preparing your food fresh in front of you.  After your meal, you take your card and pay on your way out.  It's inexpensive, mostly every item is under $10.  Don't expect anything super fancy like clams or scallops and rissoto.  It's not that kind of place.  But everything is simple, fresh and light.  And i LOVE it!  The best part... it is currently BYOB.  They haven't received their liquor license yet so they have made the place BYOB for now.  AND the sugary icing on the already gigantic cake... the liquor store is right next door!!  OH EM GEE!  Best ever!!

This is my red Louis Vuitton Epi Leather Pont Neuf.  Isn't she a beauty?  I named her Fifi.  She is special because I got her in Paris.  The Louis Vuitton in Paris on the Champs Elysees is intense.  We had to stand in line outside for 10 minutes just to go in.

This is one of my absolute favorite items.  It's a spinach and strawberry salad with some sort of strawberry dressing.  It is topped with some cheese, red onions, pine nuts and fresh strawberries.  It is so dang good!  I usually get it with a bowl of the Chicken Tuscan soup which is pretty much their version of chicken noodle soup.  Who doesn't like chicken noodle soup?

This is their version of bruschetta.  It's called the Bruschetta Trio.  One is the traditional version, one has olives, and one is topped with pesto and shaved parmesan cheese, then a bunch of arugala in the middle. It was my first time having this one and it's pretty yum.  Very fresh and light.  Perfect for lunch.

Here's what Blog Nazi gets every time.  Can't take this guy away from his pizzas!  They have a bunch of different kinds of artisan pizzas available.  Blog Nazi keeps it simple and gets the plain cheese.

When it's a beautiful day out, in the lounge-y area they open their huge windows so it's like your eating outside.  It is my absolute favorite spot to eat when it's nice out.  I love being right up against the window, feeling the breeze and sun, and watching people walk by and hearing them go, "Whoa!  What is this place?  Man it looks nice in there!"  And it sure does, the decor is very nice and modern.  The space is huge and open and it's very comfortable.  You can literally spend hours just sitting and talking.

Top - MINKPINK  |  Jeans - Current Elliot  |  Boots - Ash Eden (the tan version of my black ones)  |  Bag - Louis Vuitton Pont Neuf  |  Watch - Chanel  |  Sunnies - Marc by Marc Jacobs  |  Earrings - ??

After lunch, Blog Nazi and I went to go run some errands.  First stop was Barneys to return some NARS blush that was a little too bright.  And of course, since it was a beautiful day out, it was impossible to find parking in that area since everyone was out and about.  After that we headed to Nordies to meet up two of my favorites, HJ and the Jimmers.  The four of us did some shoe shopping.  The boys both got themselves two pairs each!  Hahaha... and they say that we are the bad ones?  Nothing like good company, shoes, and coffee to make DOS one happy gal.

I got me a little sumthin' sumthin' from my one of my favorite brands.  HOH1960 for the win!  I finally found some booties.  =)  This is my first pair of HOH shoes and so far, me likie!  I can't wait to show you guys!

stay loose

So this was me on Friday.  Fridays, I usually don't want to think about what I'm wearing to work.  Probably because I just want to get through the day and get to my weekend.  It's also when I end up just wearing the loosest and baggiest clothes I have.  And especially when it starts getting chilly out, I tend to stick to work pants and a loose top.  This particular Friday was sunny so of course I had to bust out my favorite sunnies.  You can't really tell from pictures but these sunnies are really beaten up.  I should have taken much better care of them.  This also means I have a perfect excuse to get a new pair.  Hehehe...  These are going to be hard to top though.  I love them too much.

And from my favorite sunnies to one of my favorite work pants.  These are my super wide leg and most comfortable work pants ever.  I've had them for about three years and I have had them altered about 6 times. I was a bit heavier in my public accounting days.  =P  These were from Forever 21 and probably cost me around $25.  And I probably spent around $60 on alterations from when I first bought them to what they are now.  LOL.  And yet again, I need to take them in just a little in the waist and in the back, and also the button fell off so I am using a safety pin right now.  And I have to get the hem taken down more.  My shoes have gotten taller and taller in the past three years.  Hehehehe...  Back to alterations you go buddy.  Just goes to show what I will do for a piece of clothing I love.  These pants are ridiculously comfy, probably because they are so wide and baggy and light.  I used to hate shopping for work clothes and Forever 21 was my favorite hot spot for inexpensive work clothes.  I mean c'mon!  $25 for work pants!  Score!!

Now that I look at it, it kinda looks like I'm wearing pajamas to work.  LOL.  I probably should have went with a different top.  Oh well.  It was the closest top within arms reach.  I really need to rearrange my closet.  Everything I put towards the top never gets worn because I have to take out a step ladder to get it.  =P

love my muffs

So with the cold days fast approaching, I had to dig out my winter pet.  These are by far my must have accessory for every winter season.  I don't care if they ever go out of fashion.  I have had these for the past 4 years and I rock them every year.  They keep my ears unbelievably warm, and when my ears are warm, the rest of me automatically feels warmer.  I wish I could remember where I got these from.  I think it might have been Neimans?  I don't even remember if they are real fur.  But they have held up for so many years and are warmer than any other earmuffs I've ever tried so I have a feeling they are real.  But sometimes ignorance is bliss.  I don't like to think too hard about those things.  All I know is that if I lost these, I would be devastated and go on a mad hunt to find an equivalent.  It's also very funny when people start raising their voices while they talk to me when I wear these.  They think I can't hear them.  They are cold proof but not sound proof people.  LOL.  So for all my fellow Chicagoans that dare to rock furry muffs, go get yourself one.  Your ears will thank you.  Even my dad rocked these in Paris when it got too cold.

Doesn't he look super warm?

wednesday wishlist 10/19/11

So since I've slacked on the posts, you get two in one day.  I'm going to start doing a "Wednesday Wishlist" post where I will put together some stuff that I wish I could get right now or if ever.  Hahahaha... I'm going to try to make it like a whole cohesive outfit kind of thing.  Let's see how this goes.  Leave me comments if you like this idea.  =)

1.  Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAC Clutch in Silver Snake - $225
2.  Gucci Leather High Knit Leg Boots - $620
3.  Haute Hippie Drape Front Leather Jacket - $975
4.  Haute Hippie Halter Blouse With Chiffon Scarf - $225
5.  Lanvin Long Skirt - $2,590 (insane!)

Total outfit costs about a zillion dollars.  LOL.  I guess that's why it's called a WISH-list.  In other non-related news, I almost ate pavement twice today from the crazy winds here in Chi-city.  Not only was it windy, it was raining.  Which is kind of just a sucky combination.  If you have an umbrella, it almost always breaks or you get taken down with it.  So you are left to decide whether or not you want to be one of those people who walk around with a flipped umbrella pointed in front of you so the rain doesn't smack you in the face, or just give up and walk home with rain pelting you in your eyeball and trying to fight the wind because for some reason... the wind NEVER blows towards the direction you are going.  It is always blowing AGAINST you.  What is that phenomenon!?  I swear I have never been in a situation where the wind is blowing in the direction I'm walking.  Maybe that is just the kind of luck I have with weather.  Anyway, it completely tuckered me out.  I had plans to do things tonight, and that all just went to poo.  I got home and was sweating because I was struggling so hard not to get blown away.  At least I got a workout that way.  Same type of day coming up tomorrow.  I wish I had a rain poncho.  Goodnight peeps!

inVEST in some vests

So I never really dress too business-y at work which is weird because I work in a corporate setting.  Something about going fully suited up for 8 hours a day makes me feel uncomfortable just thinking about it.  Maybe once in a blue moon, but I definitely can't do it everyday.  So whenever I feel like upping the profesh feel to an outfit, I just slap on a business-y vest.  It works really well at distracting from the fact that I was also wearing black denim.  LOL.  Well it's not fully denim, but the material is pretty denim-ish.  Yea sometimes when I haven't done laundry or had a chance to go to the cleaners, I start wooping out black denim and try to pull it off as work pants.  It started with a pair of Jbrand skinny jeggings, which I got away with, and kind of snowballed from there.  So next time you want to look a little more professional than usual, or try to hide the fact that you are wearing not so appropriate work pants, throw on a nice vest.  Works like a charm.

So here's my new rose gold Michael Kors watch.  The one I originally had was defective so I returned it, and I'm so it was busted because I like this one much better.  It looks really different from the other MK watches.  The face has these nice Roman numerals that really stand out.  And I don't think a lot of people have this version... yet.  I always swore I wouldn't get a Michael Kors watch because everyone had one. But I finally caved when I couldn't find a rose gold one I liked.  Even the first one I got, I was still iffy on.  But the fashion fairies were looking out for me and now I have a rose gold watch I love that also works.  Hehehehe...

Oh and can you tell that my hair is lighter?  These really aren't the best pics to show it.  It is clearer in the daylight.  I went for it and got some highlights.  =)  Maybe during the next busy cycle at work I'll do something else with my hair.  Hahaha... stay tuned!
