DRUNK ON AY CHIWOWA!

So when a place like Ay Chiwowa contacts you and asks you if you would like to come in and taste their new tacos and tequila cocktails for their 5 day Cinco de Mayo celebration, you only say one thing.  Si!  Actually... HELL SI!  I got off work, went home, put on my stretchiest skinnies and my dog snarl tee and was zooming out the door.  Absolutely love this tee.  It says, feed me or I will rip out your carotid artery.  RAWR!  Bring on the nyummies!  If you  have no plans this weekend.  Definitely hit up Ay Chiwowa for their Cinco days of Cinco de Mayo Celebration!

These stole the show for me.  I absolutely loooooooooooooooooove the guacamole at Ay Chiwowa.  They have a mango guac that is out of this world!  I could eat guac all day errrrrrday.  This was also the first time I had their corn salsa and it was soooooooo good.  These two are a must have!

The steak taco was yuuuuuum!  I topped it with some guac and it was even better.  I think if I added some hot sauce it would have been even even even more better!  For some reason I love drenching mexican food in hot sauce.  

Thanks to Tanteo for the yummy tequila drinks and trying to educate me on all things tequila-ish.  My favorite was the Blood Orange Paloma.  I can't really handle tequila that well.  I think college ruined that for me.  But this Blood Orange Paloma was perfect!  I could still taste the good parts of tequila without reliving the memories of being hunched over a dumpster outside of The Canopy from one too many cheap tequila shots.  (Only my U of I peeps will get that one)  But I thoroughly enjoyed this cocktail.  Actually I had about three.  Yummy!

The Shrimp taco was only okay.  Maybe because I just got back from Dallas where I had some bomb ass shrimp tacos so I was super biased.  It's worth a shot if you are curious.  =)

My fave taco of the night.  The pork taco.  Nom Nom Nom!

So what's my conclusion on Ay Chiwowa?  Go for the guacamole and corn salsa!  You will need something to soak up all that yummy tequila.  Their drinks are super tasty and packs a punch.  Don't just get one glass of margarita like a pansy.  Get a whole pitcher.  I was a pansy last night and it is not sitting well with me.  Disappointed in myself.  Also, because Underground has been under construction for what seems like FOREVER (man I miss it so much), the music at Ay Chiwowa is on point.  I wanna say it's the same DJs?  So that's really what makes it a win for me.  Good drinks, guacamole for days, and bumpin' music.  Woot!  So go celebrate cinco de mayo with the great staff at Ay Chiwowa.  You will NOT be disappointed.  They know how to have a good time.  Maybe I'll run into ya and eat your corn salsa.  =)

Chef Julio Galicia even created a special Cinco days of Cinco menu, featuring authentic Mexican food favorites like Chicken Tortilla Soup, crispy corn tortilla strips, lime wedge; Jicama Cucumber Salad, orange segments,pickled onion, lemon juice, chile piquin; Chile Relleno, chihuahua cheese, refried beans, red rice, sour cream;Molletes, bolillo, chorizo beans, chihuahua cheese, guacamole, pico de gallo; and a classic silky Flan garnished with Kahlua whipped cream. 

On Saturday, May 4, Kentucky Derby fans will watch all of the horse-racing action on ¡AY CHIWOWA!’s flat screen TVs while celebrating Cinco de Mayo with a live mariachi band performance. OFF WHITE AND BLACK

Hay gurl haaaaaaaay.  Momma's got a new baby.  Although I don't know if she'll see much of the outside world anytime soon.  I am so terrified of white purses.  They always look so amazing but one false move and it's curl up into a ball and cry time.  I probably should have thought more about holding my coffee so close to my outfit.  No don't worry, nothing spilled.  But why risk it right?!  So I guess black and white is a spring trend this year?  Okay sure.  I'm on it!  Here's me kind of doing a black and white outfit.  Okay I lie, the shirt is off white.  Maybe even cream.  Oh well, I tried.  Have you guys enjoyed the black and white trend this spring?  Also, how do you take care of white bags?  I've been carrying my dust bag around in case of rain or dirt or just general stain fears.  Haha.  Does anyone else do that?

ON THE VARSITY TEAM

And I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaack.. wsup wsup wsuuuuuuup!  I had an amaaaajjjing time in Dallas and am having a hard time adjusting back to normal life.  Why can't I just be a professional traveler?  I'd be so good at it!  A big thanks to Snuggie for showing us around Dallas and being my chauffeur when The Hubster was at his business meetings.  Sorry I dragged you to all the crazy stores.  But hey, I taught you some DSLR basics so it's an even trade.  The Hubster and I fell so in love with Dallas.  But it could have been because of the sunny weather and the oooober amazing treatment we received at Hotel ZaZa.  The staff there really know how to make you feel like a VIP.  Little do they know.. I'm just a P.  Shout out to my girl Chelsea for taking care of me all weekend.  You are a friggin' rockstar badass and I love you to death!  See you at Lolla?!?!  I am still reeling from all the amazing memories and meeting so many insanely amazing people.  Shout out to my UK peepz and one very bad ass guy reppin' Amsterdam.  You all are a flippin' blast!

This was day one in Dallas right outside Snuggie's place.  He sure got an inside look to how oober glamorous my photo shoots are.  Hell yea, I worked this parking lot like a runway y'all.  LOL.  It was actually super awkward with him watching.  I had to tell him to go away.  I've known him for over 13 years and I'm sure he was standing there rolling his eyes.  Whatever.  I had to shoot my new favorite jacket.  I made The Hubster buy a varsity jacket for himself months ago and ever since I've been wanting my own.  I've seen a few here and there and most were way over my price range for something I wasn't exactly sure I could pull off.  Thank the heavens for Top Shop.  They released a set of cute ass varsity jackets for women and I had to get my hands on one.  I absolutely love this color scheme since to me it really screams varsity team high school.  It's actually the colors of my own high school so it's also nostalgic.  The shape is so perfect for what I wanted and it has become my new favorite item to throw on.  I feel instantly cool and it turns any frumpy day into a somewhat hip look. Then again, it could all be in my head but who currrs.

LE DINNER: EPISODE 3: TRADER JOE'S X DOS YELLOW CURRY

Hey guys!  Here is another Le Dinner episode for you since it's been a while.  And oh big shocker, it's all stuff from Trader Joe's again!  This is by far one of my favorite dishes because I serve it over hot jasmine rice and I love me some hot and steamy jasmine rice.  So here we go... Trader Joe's X DOS Yellow Curry over Rice.  Drooooooools!  Pictured is all the things you need.  Obvi always have salt and pepper on hand with a little bit o' EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil).  Actually pretty much whatever cooking oil is your preference.

Ingredients:

Chicken Breasts

2 Bottles of Trader Joe's Yellow Curry Sauce

Different colored peppers (red, yellow, orange, green... all the things)

Peas

Red Skin Potatoes

White Mushrooms (or any kind of mushroom you like because we don't discriminate in this kitchen)

Onion

Carrots

Red Pepper Flakes

Jasmine Rice

Salt and Peppa

Oil

Step 1:  not pictured

Okay so step one is kinda a pre prep situation.  I like to take chicken breasts, how ever many you want since I don't really measure things, and dice them up.  Put the diced chicken into a ziplock bag and pour in one bottle of the yellow curry.  Or half a bottle depending on how much chicken you have.  You really want to drench the chicken with this stuff.  It's so NYUMMY!  Dash in some salt and peppa and let it marinate overnight.

The next day...

Step 2:  Chop up ALL the things

(shrooms, onion, peppers, carrots, potatoes... all the things)

Also, you might want to start making your jasmine rice right about now.  It's the worst when you forget to make the rice first and you have to wait for it to cook after the curry is already done.

Step 3:  Lightly coat the bottom of a hot stew type pan with some oil and throw in your marinated chicken.  Make sure you get out every last drop of the yellow curry in that ziplock bag.  Waste not.  Throw in some Red Pepper Flakes for heat!  (optional)  Stir and Stir until it looks like the outer part of all the chicken pieces are cooked.

Step 4:  Add your veggies in order of cook time.  Carrots and Potatoes will probably take the longest to cook so throw those in first.  Stir and set the heat to medium, cover with the lid, and let it simmer for 10 minutes.  Check on it once to make sure it's not sticking to the bottom.

Step 5:  Add in the second bottle or a portion of the second bottle.  It's up to you as to how much you want to make so add in more sauce or don't depending on your portions.  I like my curry extra saucy so I always put more than normal.

Step 6:  Throw in the rest of the things.  Onions, Peppers, Peas, Shrooms.  The rest of the things.  Stir.

Step 7:  Set the heat to medium-low and cover.  Let simmer for 15-20 minutes.

Step 8:  Pour curry over your jasmine rice and stuff yo face!

LACED UP

Just sharing a few photos from the APALSA Banquet I went to last month!  Shout out to Grace and Sam for putting together a successful night.  It was amazing listening to judges and lawyers speaking so passionately about what they do and how they got to where they are now.  Very motivating.  Although, I would probably make a horrible lawyer.  My argument tactic is usually, "Let me get you drunk and you'll see that I'm right."

STROLLING

It's finally getting warm in Chicago.  I think?  Crap did I just jinx it?  Had another fab weekend strolling through Wicker Park.  One of my favorite neighborhoods in Chicago for so many reasons.  Could it be all the shopping that can be done in the area?  Maybe.  Could it be that the neighborhood is very doggie friendly?  Possibly.  Could it be this guy behind me shirtless and getting tatted up in front of a huge window?  Likely.  Whatever the reasons are, I love spending a Saturday just strolling around.  And of course it's even better when it's with a fun group of friends.  Add the fact that two of them are photographers and I've got me a perfect day.  Hahaha.  Altho poor Hoang who took these shots (along with Tum Tum) got his bike wheel stolen.  In broad daylight!  I was so mortified.  People can be just so ghetto.  If you have a bike in Chicago, make sure you get two U-locks and always lock the front wheel with the frame AND the back wheel with the frame to something.  It's the worst having to carry your bike home because some asswipe stole your back wheel.  Who ever that person was who stole Hoang's wheel, I hope while you are riding on your stolen wheel, you run over a nail and it pops your wheel and makes you run into a pole and you fly off your bike and eat it on the sidewalk.  Then while you are lying there, someone comes along and steals your bike.  Ugh!  Who steals on Easter weekend?!?!  I mean c'mon!

Aside from the bike wheel theft, it was a perfect day.  I got to be with 3 of my most favorite ladies.   They are the most down for whatever, supportive, and amazing ride or die betches I know.  There are very few people I can truly say I can count on in a jam and these three are part of that extremely small group.  And not to mention, they are just a bucket of fun.   They bring such positive energy and love into my life and I would do anything for them.   Thank you ladies for a wonderful day and for all the laughs and stupid moments that I hold so dear.  Oh, and for always saying "Oooh that looks so good on you!" "LOVE!" "You should get that."  Also for stopping me from buying things at Club Monaco.   Even though the next day I just went back without you guys and got it any way.  LMAO.  Damn, I should have gotten that necklance from that vintage shop.  Sighs.  I love you slores.
