Double your pleasure, double your fun!  LOL.  I dunno why I did this, but it turned out kinda cool/trippy.  I am sitting here blogging while I wait for my SoHo to pick me up for dinner and had some time to play around with my pics from the weekend.  Last weekend, like I said in my Herve Leger post (which was on the same day), I spent Saturday with my fambam strolling around the Gold Coast area mainly because we wanted to soak up the sun and the ridiculously nice weather.  I love seeing my dada and sissy!

Wrigley was soooooo excited because he got to come with.  Like most dogs, he loves to be in the car and stick his head out the window.  But sometimes he gets motion sickness.  Gosh, isn't my little cuddly boo soooooo dang cute?!  This was to be his second time living it up in the Gold Coast area.  He got to meet some super fancy doggies.  And my dad kept sneaking him pieces of breadsticks.  It's so hard to say no to this face.  I yelled at my dad but then I started sneaking him stuff too.  If Blog Nazi was there, he would have smacked my hand.  Hehehehe...

We had to wait quite some time for our table.  But luckily the hostess liked my shoes and we got a table sooner than expected.  LOL.  

Me and my sieeeeester.  Isn't she so adorbs?  She never comments on the blog but I know she looks at it every day.  She's one of the lazy ones that doesn't read, she just looks at the pics.  

We ate at Tavern On Rush which is amazing because their outdoor section has a great view of the V-Triangle AND it's dog friendly.  Apparently their neighbor, Luxbar, is not.  BOOOOOOO!  How can you have an outdoor section in the Gold Coast and NOT allow doggies?!?!?!?!  

Here's my fabulous dada.  He is totally fab with his new Oliver Peoples shades.  We literally walked in there and he goes, "What the?!  These are so expensive!"  Then he sees a pair and goes "Oh, I like these!  Oh good price!"  LOL!  In his defense, they were half as expensive as all the other ones.  I think I will try to steal these from him sometime soon.  He kept saying he liked them because they hide his eyebrows.  BWAHAHAHAHA.  Men are so weird.  Either way, doesn't he look fabulous in them?!  I was oober proud of my dad for getting his first pair of NON-RayBan shades.  I told him he was so fashionable and he looks at me and says "Where do you think YOU get it from?!"  LOL!!  Oh dada, I just wub you to death.  How bout you get me some Oliver Peoples next time too!?

Don't you love that I have to wear 6 inch heels to be the same height as my sister?  She took all the height genes.

We ended up at Top Shop where we fooled around with different accessories.  I got some more cool jewelry and a couple of skirts.  I still am not 100% sure of the store because it can get so crowded in there, sometimes it's hard to move around and see everything.

My dad and sister came down this past Saturday to hang out since the weather was so amazing and we strolled around my old stomping grounds in the Gold Coast.  I have more legit pictures from that day which I am still compiling and sorting through so I'll post those later.  But I just had to share these.  Oh em geeeeeee... Herve Leger!  You can't see it that well but this dress has these amazing little bead details all over it because the print is floral.  The beads make little petals and leaves all over the dress.  Too bad you were $4000, meaning there was no way in hell I could take you home.  Let's be honest.  Even if you were 70% off, I probably still could not have taken you home.  I would have seriously considered it though.  LOL!  If you have $4000 to blow, go check out this dress at Intermix.  =)  And as always, when I can't bring along my SLR, iPhone pix are the next best thing.  (And speaking of iPhones, maybe with Steve Jobs up in heaven now, he can figure out some way for us to communicate with the other side, cuz he's just that kind of genius.  RIP Mr. Jobs.  Say hi to my mom up there.)

On a completely random topic, I really want to color my hair.  Something lighter, like a mocha brown or something.  Is it weird to do that when it's going to be winter soon?  Again, random things I do to my hair is directly related to my stress levels.  We have a massive amount of tax returns to file for 10/15 deadline this year and it's got everyone on edge.  Plus I am just feeling like there is not enough time in the day to do what I want.  Hence the need to do something crazy to my head.  I almost went during lunch again but my favorite salon had no openings.  Are you wondering where I go?  I'll post that when I go get my hair colored.  I'm pretty sure I'm going to do it.  Hehehe...

I've been spending a lot of time on wedding related things lately.  Mostly due to the fact that I've got two amazing brides booked for 2012.  It's gotten me back into my wedding high.  If there's anyone else that needs a wedding coordinator or wants more info on it or knows someone that may want one in the Chicagoland area, shoot me an email at dos@drunkonshoes.com.  I will scare you with how into this stuff I am.  Take advantage of the fact that I am currently pretty cheap for what I do.  Hahahaha... and I've got tons of references.

abandoned

Over the weekend, I went with my new pal (and by new, I mean, we met that day and bonded over photography) Joey Nguyen to hunt down some street art by the Belgian artist, ROA.  See a big collection of his work HERE.  I was first captivated by his work after seeing this sick video on another new pal's blog, Mike Maravilla of Unscene Media Group.  If you want your mind blown by some crazy cool street art, you have to watch the video from one of Mike's posts, CLICK HERE.  It was quite an adventure to find it.  Started off with a hunt online for the address to the building, which led to an adventure into the west loop area of Chicago.  We went through little roads infested with a slew of tiny potholes which had us crazy bouncing around in my poor little Prius.  Once we got to the correct address, we still had to circle around to find the exact building and the exact wall.  Then we saw it!

I like this shot.  It shows the new and vibrant part of Chicago in the background, with all it's skyscrapers and glassy shiny windows.  But then shows this grungy, side of the west loop, where there are many forgotten buildings, rubble from demolished building sites and deserted alleys.

It was so amazing to see it in person.  This thing is ridiculously massive and you HAVE to see it in person to really take it in.  It was on such a cool part of the building where the surrounding area was just rundown and had a sad look of abandonment.  The entire area was fenced off and we guessed it was a way to keep out any possible ignorant people that would try to deface the piece.  We soooooo wanted to get up close and we tried to find a way, but it was about a twenty foot drop, even if we were able to get over the fence somehow.  It has such a sad and eerie vibe but it's also so beautiful.  It definitely put all other graffiti in the area to shame.

Joey and I had access to all of Tum Tum's equipment but I was an epic fail and left Joey's memory card at my place so we only had one camera.  We turned it into an impromptu photoshoot/practice shoot moment which I was totally unprepared for.  I had dressed to do some shooting myself so I was lookin' pretty frumpers.  Also, my hair is lookin' cray cray.  This is usually what I wear when I need to be oober comfortable.  Loose soft sweater, stretchy skinny jeans/jeggings and flats.  Oh well.  I think Joey got some pretty cool shots.

Aw, it says 'I miss you'.  I wonder who this was intended for.  Nothing fancy, just a simple statement.

Damn you fence.

This area was completely fenced off too but Joey and I found a small opening where the fence was warped and we ninja'd ourselves through it and climbed those huge cinder blocks, walked through bushes and probably poisonous weeds, just to get to this cool gravel area.  Yup that's me probably surrounded by some poisonous plants.

In the same area, we also found this half demolished and abandoned house or maybe it was a restaurant???  It was a little creepy to think that this was once someone's house and I wondered what the story was to this place.  It's been there for so long that plants are literally growing through the cracks on the concrete.  Either way, it made for some coolio shots.  Good job Joey!

Overexposed but one of my favorites.  =)  Thanks again Joey.  It was a fun adventure.  I definitely wish I was dressed a lot cooler than this.  LOL.  Also, I hope we both don't get some random skin rash from those crazy tall weeds.  I think there is one more ROA piece in the city to hunt down.  Let's go next time you are in Chicago!

an event with my pradas

So Chris of ChrisKimPhotography (aka TumTum) sends me a flyer for Chicago Fashion Connect's October Fashion Mixer and of course I take it as a good excuse to wear another pair of my shoes that hardly get to come out to play.  Hahaha.  It was a really fun networking opportunity and I got to meet some really cool cats that do some very interesting things.  But most of all, I got to stand next to models and feel oooober short.  Yep, I'm always right around boob level, which I guess if I was a guy, I'd be really excited about. So even though I am wearing my beloved Prada platforms, I am still the shortest one in the room.  Hehehe...

The mixer revolved around a Chicago fashion designer Crystal Simms of Crystal B. Designs.  The line was started in 2009 as "an advanced contemporary fashion line for women seeking high-end, architecturally-inspired pieces."  And she definitely achieves that in these dresses.  I love dresses that are different and have a cool yet classy design.  Especially when you are working with a simple color palette like black and white, the design really comes through.

The event was held at the second floor of Frontier restaurant in Chicago.  The venue is super cozy with the brick and dark wood tables.  It has a very rustic feel and just makes you really comfortable.  But the best part is the food.  We had some hors d'oeuvres of baked oysters and some pasta mushroom thing that was nyummers!  As good as that was, it wasn't enough.  So after the event, Tums and I went to the outdoor patio (which is such a great spot) to stuff our faces even more.  There are no pictures of that because we were too busy chowing down.  We had fresh oysters, the mac & cheese, duck tacos (droooool), fries, and one of the best pork chops I've ever had.  That thing came out on a cutting board and it was huuuuuge!  True to my Filipino roots,  I gnawed on the crispy pork skin like a champ.  Tums refused to eat the fatty part, and like my dad, I kept saying, "What's wrong with you!?  That's the best part!"

Twas a long cab ride due to traffic.  I got bored.

How hilare does this picture look?  HAHAHAHA.  There's like a big dip when you get to the fourth person.  kekekeke...  Crystal, make sure you make my size.

Side note - I am wearing this banded skirt by Pleasure Doing Business that I got on sale last year and it was another final sale moment.  I could barely fit into it last year and even now it is still a struggle.  I can't even explain to you how hard it was to tuck in the front part of my shirt.  That's prob why it looks all kinds of bunchy in the front of the skirt.  I could not get down to stuff the shirt all the way for fear that I would not be able to get my hand back out.  LOL!  For future reference, if you are my size, do not get the XS in this brand.  The S would probably be much better.  I think my ass lost circulation after an hour.  

This one was one of my favorites!  Give me shiny and metallic any day!

This model was awesome.  I wish I could remember her name.  Darn you pinot grigio!  We definitely chatted it up and she has that super cool Russian accent.  At least I think it was Russian.  Oy vey, I drank too much.

The other two sweetie pies.  They complimented me on my outfit and my nails.  Then we proceeded to educate this one guy, who overheard them asking me about my nails, about nail lengths and what a nail bed is and why some women can have short nails and it looks great because their nail bed is longer and how it all depends on how long your fingers are to begin with and blah blah blah.  OMG hilarious!  At the end of all that explanation ladies, I think he still didn't get it.
